First of all, I just noticed "takaramono wo ageyou" is the hook of the ED song. Going a little heavy with that motif.

Okay so like. This show. I... I still don't even know.

Hoshitani is like a less interesting version of Nomura R from Marginal #4. He just is. And Magi4 did it better. Seriously, Magi4 is just a really great show and more people should watch it.

This show makes me remember all the good and bad things about being a theater kid.

...... also wow, worst New York backgrounds I've seen in anime in a while. They can do better. It's... really not hard - google is your friend - and they must know that in this day and age, someone will be watching the show from here.

..... but yeah, this show isn't a musical. Like, it is, but it isn't. The songs don't feel like musical songs - they don't even really feel like idol songs. They just feel like anime songs (or bad idol songs). The only one that remotely felt like a musical was that "Ayanagi Showtime" thing in season 1. Maybe they're going off of anime musical things, but... most of those aren't good musicals.

I want to see an anime studio do a good animated musical. Like Disney good. I don't want 2D animated musicals to die just because Disney doesn't do 2D anymore (and the other studios don't do 2D or musicals anymore).

I want to see a really good anime-pretty 2D animated musical. (anime pretty, e.g. your name., KyoAni things, etc. That glowy style.)

(side note: I saw Anastasia on Broadway and the production feels so anime. With the lighting and the backgrounds and stuff. Sunsets, etc.... It felt like your name.

It's so anime.
I want an anime studio to do a remake of the movie but make it like the Broadway version... highly unlikely but I can dream.)

About the story, for several episodes we've been shown that Ageha knows the part to a T as done by Haruto. But I hope in the end he doesn't get the part exactly for that reason. They are supposed to be learning how to make a part their own and not a perfect version and copy of how someone else did it. What in the end Ageha is acting is the part of Haruto playing the part of Lambert's Shadow, without ever thinking about how he himself would play the part. So just about anybody else besides him should get it. Especially as those 3 instructors seemed to recognize the what was going on.

Also this.

So this latest development should mean that Ageha and Hoshitani will be directly competing against each other. A rather predictable plot development which I admit I was wondering how they were going to bring about. Otherwise Ageha's antagonism to Hoshitani plot-wise just makes little sense. And I'm sure Ageha will continue to be very unpleasant throughout. A pity he'll never have the same epiphany Kaito did in this episode, and realize what he should do is make the part his own. Nor would he ever want to.

This and somewhat last episode seemed to have far more BL vibes than I recall this series otherwise having. It is my impression that otherwise this series previously refrained from going very far down that path, and at most there was close friendships or idolisations. But I may not be recalling season 1 all that correctly.

Season 1 episode 11 has an amazing scene with Tooru, Nayuki when he confesses his love to Hoshitani-kun I replay it a lot cause it sounds really from the heart and vulnerable about judgment and not wanting to be the weakest member but instead of a reply like I love you too he gets I like you its closes BL scene from first season

He gets a "Love You and Everybody". (http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/LoveYouAndEverybody) Hoshitani...

also... was it just me or did the episode preview dialogue confirm that that mentor guy who acts like he's Haruto's ex is actually Haruto's ex? (sorry, I forgot his name... way too many characters in this show. I just call him "Haruto's ex". )

That was my point- As far as I understood not only was that guy Haruto's actual ex but Haruto then got together with Otori. And now Haruto's ex might be interested in Kaito, Haruto's younger brother. Add to that there was that other guy who also said something about being in love with Kuga, though I have no idea how literal he was being. It was impossible to tell from the context. Until now they have flirted with and hinted at the idea that there might be something romantic but have always shied away from outright saying so.

So it went from "practically a soap opera" to "actual soap opera".

........ did it really imply Haruto/Otori, though? I sort of assumed it was talking about Otori being on Haruto's star team (he was, right?)

. . . . . . . I ship Hoshitani/Otori, by the way. Just thought I'd mention.

..... this season wouldn't be so frustrating if they only had more Otori...

Enjoying this soap opera ♡

When Taiga was talking to Uozomi on the balcony, he said "Prince Haruto claimed Princess Otomi" but Prince Uozomi was the one to move Kaito's heart. And later Uozomi admits he was the one to call it quits with Haru. Piecing together that hierarchy, little brother ends up with the ex.

Everything is worded for the ease of shipping. However, most everything can also be taken to mean stage partner. It's fun to follow these carefully worded paths.

Tooru, on the other hand is painful to watch. He dotes on Hoshitani so much. That last sceen with him serving tea to comfort Hoshitani doesn't even get an acknowledgement from him. So sad.

I have just realized that the ending video shows the script and items Hoshitani gets from his friends (for now, it only has Tengenji's towel and Tsukigami's ticket...). What's this, an RPG where you have to get all the items to get the best ending? lol feels that way anyways. Can't wait to see what the other 2 are gonna give Hoshitani.

Surprised about the role switching. Didn't think it'd happen. I'm still hoping that the winners aren't a team thing. As nice as it would be to see the whole Team Ootori going on stage, it's kind of anti-climatic and cliche. Wish people from different teams gets the roles altogether instead of everyone from only one team. It'd be interesting.

Shu nearly punching that guy in the face made me stand up and say 'Oh my god!'. I really thought he was gonna punch someone, my heart skipped a beat. he looked so badass there. XD

I'm loving Team Ootori's friendship moments. No matter how much they argue or tease each other, if one of them gets insulted by someone else, everyone else will be there to tell the other guy off. I mean how many times had Tengenji gotten angry on behalf of Tsukigami and Hoshitani? It's really nice to see.

And what's that text message Haruto got? What 'other mission'? It's getting interesting.

Hoshitani will be playing opposite Otori.

Wow, I was never this into this show before but the thought of ToriHoshi in the next episode has got me excited...

Ageha finally is feeling the pressure you cant just copy a role you have to make it yours some how? Hoshitani-kun has a natural gift he makes roles his own shine and sparkle in the right moments

I love how Team Ootori are around each other. They're really friends now! So nice...

Also, Nayuki wtf?! That was funny and cringey at the same time. lol

And what's Haruto's plan for Hoshitani, I wonder? And what about the mysterious text message. I also felt a little bad for Ageha. I hope he learns from this finally.

And yes!! They made the decision I've been wanting to happen: individual battles!! Now anyone can get the role as it's not a team thing anymore which makes things interesting. They should have done so from the start.

So, my predictions:

Shu and Kaito would get their respective roles.

Tengenji's arm being in pain from a few episodes ago would make a comeback and make him unable to get the role leaving the rest to his team (let's face it, the stuff he said to Hoshitani a few episodes ago sounds like the death flags you hear on other animes. Plus angst and drama. Everyone loves angst). Inumine probably would get the role they're fighting for.

Nayuki probably won't get the role. It's probably gonna go to Ugawa or the glasses guy. Probably. (It'd be boring if most roles just went to Stardust or the Star of Stars. Someone from team Yuzuriha or Sazanami should get a role as they're prominent members of the cast now).

The three way battle between Hoshitani, Ageha and Tatsumi would be the climax of the show. As much as I would love to see Hoshitani get the role, it'd be too predictable, cliche and boring for the MC to get it when he's the underdog all this time. Pretty typical. Tatsumi getting it would make sense as he is really talented anyways. And as much as I hate Ageha, it'd be interesting to see character development from him that would earn him this role in the end if ever.

And also, even if Hoshitani doesn't get the role, there's a chance that the secret mission Haruto was organizing was for him but who knows? Maybe it's for Ootori all along though...

Can't wait for the next episode!

I found it really satisfying when Haruto finally informed Ageha that a copy wouldn't do. Ageha had it coming, and it wasn't as if he hadn't been told along with everyone else to make the role his own, he just chose to ignore that. But it was crushing obviously to find out from his idol of all people.

I admit I found both Nayuki's and Hoshitani's tribulations a bit too extreme even for comedic relief. Just carried the joke a bit too far and for too long for it to remain funny. So all I felt was relief that it was all over and settled.

However, about the competitions for the roles, though they are now competing as individuals and not as teams, I assume they are still assigned to different parts. Meaning certain individuals still won't be in competition with each other.

Here are the assignments:

Roles
Lambert = Hoshitani (Team Ootari, was supposed to be Hiragi)
Lambert's Shadow = Tsukigami (Team Ootari)
Alexis = Ootari
Alexis' Shadow = Tatsumi (Team Hiragi)
Hardy = Tengenji (Team Ootari)
Percy = Ugawa (Team Hiragi)
Orlando = Kuga (Team Ootari)

Plus some other roles the senpais will be doing.

Sooo, that means Hoshitani is performing opposite Ootari!!! Yeah!!!!

But poor Nayuki, the only one from Team Ootari to not get a role.
