Can Boruto be watched by a newcomer?
Posted 4/9/17
Hi! I'm a newbie to anime so I'm very very behind on popular shows. I watched the first 30 episodes of Naruto then gave up on it but recently I saw headlines for the new spinoff, Boruto. Can someone who hasn't watched Naruto or Naruto Shippuden watch Boruto without being completely lost? I don't mind spoilers, I just don't want to be confused.

If you plan on watching Shippuden, there is a huge fucking spoiler in Boruto that will ruin the series for you.

Do not watch Boruto.

^^ haii lucy I can explain.

Here's my advice.
Naruto itself can be really boring because it's an older show.
Naruto focuses on past events -Overall this can really be a drag especially if you're trying to watch Naruto at a quicker paste so you can catch up to shippuden.
I believe Naruto is 220 episodes long.
Shippuden is 500, You can Watch Naruto shippuden and get the whole story that you get out of Naruto although 500 episodes is really long. It's an amazing anime, If you are ever really down to getting really into

You can start Bourto without watching the anime because it's a completely new story

although I'm sure they will add in some scenes from Naruto itself for reference upon later episodes

So if I want to watch any of the other shows and still be surprised I shouldn't watch it?

I was kidding. Besides Naruto becoming the Hokage and who married who, it is mainly new. They assumed you watched the series for you to get a gist of the ability, such as genjutsu, ninjutsu, and taijiutsu, but no more than that.

Look up a skippable filler guide, and then watch both Naruto series. I see no point in Boruto without the prior world building.

Naruto is an emotional series, and you are supposed to grow with and care about the characters over time. That is the whole appeal.

Well if you want to catch up quickly without watching the anime, then just read about the characters on Narutopedia, tells about their role in the anime and what happens. Though it's a completely new generation so maybe you won't be too lost, unless there are some episodes that go into the past.

The original 200 episodes of Naruto isn't infested with fillers. I suggest watching those as I did enjoy it. Then go to Shippuden. But get a filler guide for shippuden if you can't be bother with filler. There's so many episodes that ruin the pace of the anime. But occasionally there might be some good filler I will say.
