Was on yahoo auction Japan looking at things and found a bunch of 'setting materials' for anime. I figured someone here would be able to explain it to me better.

For example:

What are these exactly? What were they used for? Are they just a mass reproduction from the company or something?

These seem like something that would be neat to own. When I run it through google translate they call it consignment materials. Some say exhibition consignment goods. Are they things we actually can keep to own?

Consignment refers to cases where the seller isn't the owner but is selling on behalf of the owner. The owner doesn't get paid until the seller sells the item. (As opposed to the owner selling outright to a reseller.)

I believe the materials you are asking about are basically design materials that are used for reference by the animators.
