A small city would be ideal. Where I can have easy access to the countryside along with the conveniences of a city.

Oooo, you added "beach" to the mix, so "Big City on the Beach" for me.

Why, yes! I like the way you think.

I never liked big cities. too crowded and constricting. I'd prefer a large to mid-size town. I like wide open spaces but at the same time, I don't want to be completely out in the sticks.

I've never lived in a city. I am contemplating moving to Saint Louis. I do work in a smaller city. and live in a rural area. I grew up in a forest and have lived in a small town. I prefer living in the country. I feel at home surrounded by nature, but I also don't like the idea of being dinner for coyotes or cougars.

Mid sized city, 200k-450k people.

A great variety of places to eat, visit and have fun... Most importantly... Enough places to find ingredients you cant find in normal places. Trying to find dashi stock in a small town sucks hard. I had to make my own from stuff ordered online.

I've lived in the country, currently live in a small town (9600 population), and spent a decent amount of time in cities since most of my family lives in Montreal.

In terms of my own preference, I quite like this small town, it's just a little far from the nearest city if I actually want to go out (40-50min depending where in town I'm heading). I wouldn't mind living in a city for less than 13 months, but probably not longer. I really liked the country too, but at the current moment, my preference is small town.

Since I've been around longer than many of you and have lived in all the groups over time my preference is a small burg within 20 minute run to a slightly larger burg that has services. With aging self-reliance becomes a race defying the law of diminishing returns. I would prefer an area about 7000 or less population, has decent internet, outpatient satellite hospital, minimal vehicular traffic, reasonable tax structure, fire department.

Where I'm at is a small city with a nice ambiance but with 1 sacred cow too many (Univ. of Missouri). The education cartel calls the shots here. Their thirst for spending someone else's money is boundless. That's not a big deal if you're 1 of the professionals blessed with talent, skills, decent income. Where it becomes a stickler is a fixed-income situation. The property taxes here are really a worry for some of us. Likely have to move further out in the sticks soon to escape the legacy of funding everyone else's kids' education in excess of our ability to afford it as 2 single soon to be elderly people.

Idk how big cities are in America (since a lot of people i've met on this forum are american) but the city i live in is pretty big (pop: 2.6mil? is that big?) and that seems pretty ideal. I've been to London (8.7mil.....too many people) before and some of my family live there but the amount of smog and shit tasting tap water really gets to you. People also aren't as nice, and everything seems a little bit lifeless but hey maybe thats just me - i always end up going there at least twice a year anyway.

I prefer the big city because I live in a town and there's like nothing to do out here. Although living in a town isn't horrible, driving isn't hectic or anything like that, and I can have a relatively peaceful walk whenever I go on one.

Hey, i live in the city and I go outside naked all the time. I'me just running out of people to call to bale me out of jail. It would be really embarrassing if I remembered what happened after I sobered up.

Oh my! I'm sorry ^.^'' Well this is true but in the country if you own the land you can go out naked on it and not get arrested! At least I think so? Eh no harm no foul right?
