Episode 1 is now out for those subscribed to Anime Strike.

Episode 1

Nino just couldn't hold back when she hears that song, especially since she saw Yuzu after not seeing him for six years. Yuzu is in the light music club that's on the verge of being disbanded due to the ruckus they are causing. So Nino is recruited out of desperation, and then comes the performance where Nino is singing so wildly out of tempo and covering her ears in doing so. While it made for a chaotic performance, at least Nino feels good seeing that he found Momo. Pretty interesting start to this.

Episode 1

It reminded me of some similar manga series I've read before but not only that, the music content itself blends well with the character cast and storytelling. Nino is a peculiar girl imo as she doesn't dress in the way that most girls in shoujo manga do (the facemask being the most noticeable element).

To me, this was like a dramedy with shoujo themes. I've also read the manga before and they have a decent amount of chapters to adapt. Good start in general and overall solid episode.

Episode 1

They got into right away and explain about Nino singing on the beach waiting for someone and turns out that person is at her school. I really like her voice and she can even outshine the singer from the light music club. When it comes time for the music club to play their singer goes missing so they ask Nino to sing for them. She agrees to sing but before playing she overhears the chorus club sing and remembers her friend Momo. When it comes time to sing she lets her emotions get out of control and sings her heart out. The performance turns out great until Nino hears Momo's voice and stops singing. The first episode was amazing!! can't wait to see more.

IDK- It just seemed overly dramatic to me. I can buy into her motivation for singing, for one guy, but that she should have traumatic experiences (over what exactly?) too that extent over two is kind of hard to swallow. That anybody can see or hear anything much on a stage when a band is going full tilt also beggars belief. I wish this had been less about the dramatic backstory, but about three old friends reuniting after a long hiatus in high-school and forming a band. I keep thinking of it as a drama-queen of an anime.

I liked the anime a lot. Usually anime band plots have a female who sings poppy style music. This had a lot of emotion with a Bjork like melody very raw like she has to sing or her head will explode the girls in audience analysis was spot on they kept getting goose bumps. Strong start will see if it keeps momentum plus kudos to a character with a mask. Edit: 1 episode in already like it better than Fuuka

I'm seeing a genderswapped Fuuka (girl-boy-girl into boy-girl-boy) here... they even have a VA in common! That being said, this episode was a mess. They tried to cram twenty pounds of backstory and episode into a ten pound sack, and it didn't work... It was all rush-rush-rush with no time for the viewer to catch their breath.

After a season with the masterful Scums Wish, this sort of by the book love triangle romance feels like a massive step back. It's just over-drama without the feelings or rationale. I'll give it another episode or two to see if it actually settles down at all but the first episode wasn't very impressive.

This show sucks ass, can we all just accept that? If we can't accept it then can we at least agree not to do any more stories set around love triangles? Love triangles are one of the worst crutches in fiction. They're incredibly forced, none of the characters involved act like real people and the main character is always going to end up with the character everyone thinks they will end up with.

Not only does this show go for the weak premise of teenagers in a love triangle, but it does nothing original with it. All the characters are a bunch of tropes that act confusingly and all their backstory, which was shown very early in the manga, is cut out except for the main character's backstory who we are bombarded with repeatedly as if the staff thought that showing one character's backstory multiple times would make up for removing all the other characters' backstory.

The show isn't helped by being rough on the eyes, either. The character designs are boring and not interesting to see animated in the slightest. I haven't read the manga but I've seen the character designs from it and while I didn't think they were spectacular they were exaggerated and stylized enough to be interesting and give you an impression of the characters but Brain's base apparently decided to scrub all the originality from the manga's visual design and leave it with the most generic shojo artstyle you could possibly imagine. Not only do the character designs convey little to nothing about the characters themselves but the main character frequently wears a mask over her mouth. I get that this is something a few actual people in Japan do but here it just takes even more personality away from the character as you can never read her facial expression through he mask.

I haven't even mentioned the actual animation yet, which is possibly he worst part. While you do get a few nice looking backgrounds here and there the movement of the characters feels especially stiff and cheap and the performance scenes flat out hurt to look at. Brain's Base chose to shoot the scene from some incredibly awkward angles so that they could hide the performer's hands and for a few shots decided to replace them with horribly animated cg renders. They also tried to hide how ugly the performance animation was by burying it as much as possible under what's probably the tackiest and most garish filer they could get their hands on like a kid who wants to post a selfe they know looks like shit on instagram or something. It would have been hilarious if it didn't give me an actual headache. The real kicker is when they make some scenes inexplicably dark for no reason other than to have an excuse not to do as much animating. I honestly don't think there's a single cheap and lazy cost cutting measure the animators won't resort to during the course of his show.

I was really looking forward to this show but it's failings on almost every level indicate that it's yet another disappointment in a season with a lot of hype around it.

It was okay kinda over dramatic and cringe worthy in places but it was okay. I think they tried to do too much in one episode I can agree with above, they probably felt that with 12-13 episodes to work with they wanted to get some of the back story out the way to fit in that whole concert scene in the first episode and end on something exciting. The problem is now they need to play catch up with the rest of the episodes and fit in a bunch of exposition about their past relationships probably in boring chatty scenes where nothing happens.

Who is this girl and why does she have random freakout sessions over everything? The part when she was singing and holding her head the whole time I had to pause several times because of the cringe. As so so anime for teenage girls who read Kera and hang out in Harajuku go it's okay, the animation is kinda lousy but it's watchable. I'm not expecting the next Nana or anything but it'll be something to watch if I can get through the more annoying scenes of her having a panic attack because something reminded her of that time when she was 4 and she knew some kid.

As for the song they sung and her singing style I enjoyed that, reminded me a lot of JUDY & MARY one of my favourite Japanese bands ever, the genius unorthadox style of YUKI and her unusual voice was always amazing.

The story seems really interesting but the anime felt really forced and overly dramatic.

Also am I the only one that was cringing when she is singing? It didn't sound good at all. Sounded more like yelling and screaming instead of singing.

And I know I am nit-picking now, but the la la la at the top of her lungs is very unnecessary. Seriously needs to be toned down.
