Everything and anything that is not related to my research projects this semester.

I swear to god I will never want to write another field report in my life!

The whole past year of my career when I thought I was diligently working towards advancement in the department I was in, only to find out the man in charge thought of me as nothing more than a "girl" in an "entry level position". So much for fixing all of their jacked up crap. Oh well, off to bigger and better things.

It's very easy to start wasting your time when you let distractions get in your way. It's an obvious thing but a lot of people are blindsided and do not give themselves enough time to reflect on decisions and what they're participating in. I see a lot more people now just wanting to go home and relax after a long day at work.

That's not something I want to feel like. I want to matter and have purpose so my time isn't wasted. I'm sure you feel the same. One day you will find that and it won't feel like you're wasting so much time anymore.

^ I've often thought about euthanasia re myself. Trouble is I keep pushing the exit date further away so my likelihood of actually following through on a cerebrally acceptable way to exit has turned into an intellectual canard.

You're are in for many more unpleasant nuances coming to terms for constructive time management versus experiencing guilt presuming you're pissing it away. Would it be helpful to think of this phenomenae as a serendipitous consequence living in a technological era with abundant free time as a dividend versus the pre- / post-industrial era where servile work was the norm rather than a passing fancy?

What you're experiencing is a normal reaction, LunaT. Deepak Chopra has written, described your / our awareness re these human thoughts in many of his works. Read up on some of them when you get time. Some of the answers you seek re this topic lie within.

Aside from when I am at work, I waste most of my time because I procrastinate and am extremely lazy.

I feel like I've wasted time if I don't do anything productive. And I'm a rather lazy person until I get some momentum behind me. For me it's important to establish and maintain routines. If I exercise that's usually enough to keep me happy.

A mindset I've picked up is simply: "What's the best thing I could be doing right now?"

Often times I want to be 'productive' and better myself. Perhaps it's study, or read that philosophy book, or do that research... but in reality, some days I'm just not mentally in that state. Some day's I need to just decompress.

But it can also be very easy to always say "Oh, this is the best use of my time right now" Even though you could be doing something else. It's just a matter of finding a balance I suppose.
