America doesn't treat women like shit and America doesn't kill gay people so I have no idea what you're talking about. Plus, America is a melting pot and everyone is free to follow any religion. The majority is Christian but the state and the church are separated so this is not a Christian country. You still haven't given me the name of a christian country that does kill gay people and treat women like shit based on the teachings of their holy book

America has a long history of treating women, and gay people like shit. The only reason we're treated better in the present is because we spent years fighting for better rights. It's true that we haven't promoted the killing of gay people, but they have been still mistreated. They can't even get married because some Christians see it as violating the Christian Religion.

Sadly there are people out there that believe that America is a Christian country

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Uganda_Anti-Homosexuality_Act,_2014

"According to a reporter in Africa, "Africans see homosexuality as being both un-African and un-Christian".[17] Thirty-eight of 53 African nations criminalise homosexuality in some way.[11] A 2013 poll found that the overwhelming majority of Ugandans disapproved of homosexuality.[18] In sub-Saharan Africa, South Africa and Namibia are the only governments to support LGBT rights, but even there, curative rape is used against women, such as in the murder of Eudy Simelane, and violence is sometimes met with police inaction and apathy. Like the conditions in many other African nations, gays in Uganda currently face an atmosphere of physical abuse, vandalism to their property, blackmail, death threats, and "correctional rape""

"On 26 January 2011, Uganda's most prominent gay activist, David Kato, was found bludgeoned to death in what authorities in Uganda characterised as a robbery. His photograph had been published in Rolling Stone.[29] Kato had spoken at a United Nations-sponsored conference on the bill in December 2009, although his words were barely audible because he was nervous. Information in US embassy cables revealed that Ugandan human rights activists and anti-homosexuality bill supporters vocally mocked him during his presentation"

It's pretty ignorant to think that women, gays,or just anyone in general hasn't been mistreated by some followers of the Christian religion.

Could you not say "america" when refering to the US... Canada Mexico Brazil and many other countries are part of america which is two continents not a country... Canada was the first country to start giving things like rights to gays. In Canada there are more laws to protects women then there are to protect men We have some of the lowest crime rates in the world... yes our country has its problems and about to get way more since we have to many dumb uneducated Liberals in our country. But dont go calling us bad when you dont even know your facts.

He gave you one, but you brushed it off as a "non Christian country" despite it being more than 84% christian, I also never provided a list of wrongdoing by christians as you posit maybe consider that before you put other people's reading skills into question. Anyway, if the country thing is where you've shifted the goalpost to now then you've had your answer. Uganda is more than 4/5 Christian majority and they do what was described by the last poster. Case closed, judge people on their character not their religion, etc. etc. good fucking bye.

When did i say that YOU provided me a list of wrong doings by christians?? that was aimed at the person I quoted. Geez

I never shifted anything. Since the beginning I bolded the words based on their holy book. Do you know what that even means?

Does Uganda do it because their holy book says to do it?

The answer is no because the Bible doesn't state ANYWHERE that we can kill gay people. While Islam says that it is ok to kill them. In that thread I gave you links, ex-muslims statements who were born in Islamic countries confirming it, even a quran quote, all saying that about gay peopel. You will not find it in the Christian bible.

And it is a non Christian country because their laws are not based on their holy book. 100% of the people could be Christian for all we care.

As a fellow Canadian I can say without a doubt that there's nothing wrong with her referring to the states as America. I mean we all knew what she was talking about, plus it's not like we've never treated those particular demographics poorly.

And here we go again. You know what, I'm done with you. I have repeated myself a million times with you. All you want to do is quote Leviticus when I told you already why that it's irrelevant with Christians. You twist my words and accused me of things.

You are the most despicable person i have found in this forum and not because of our different views but because you quoted me since the beginning insulting me and making fun of me. You never cared to debate. I have debated this even with Muslim people and never I encountered such a..... I better stop here.

That is your opinion and if it doesnt bother you thats fine. I however like the seperation to be clear as many forign countries are starting to hate on america the continent not realizing America is a nickname for the US and thats just going to end up with terrorist attacks in Canada as well.

I mean I guess there is a factual difference there so worst case scenario all you're doing is being mildly pedantic which isn't a big deal at all. I think the terrorism thing is a pretty huge stretch though. I mean at least you're not cherry picking scripture to attack people of another religion amirite?

Well I hope you're willing to pay enough money to rent the whole thing out for a bit because it gets pretty cramped in there from my experience

I deleted some posts which seemed primarily dedicated to speaking about other users in not very nice ways (I also made some edits to posts that were mostly on topic but contained unnecessary personal jabs). Please folks, if you can't disagree and still carry on a conversation without mocking each other or just being rude, stay out of the thread. If you do choose to reply, stick to the topic.

My favorite part of the Bible is when the naked crazy guy shows up in Mark 14: 51-52

And a certain young man followed him, wearing nothing but a linen cloth; and they seized him, but he left the linen cloth and ran away naked.

I am going to play both fields of this and see how it turns out.

First, in regards to the actual topic; I find it hard to believe Christianity is the most persecuted, but still plausible. Most people I talk to (which is a fair amount in the service industry), just do not want any form of religion brought up around them, unless they see it the same way. Of course this is the States, so can't comment about the rest of the world from first person experience.

The comments against Christianity is what got my goat. As a user previously said, you take items out of context, you change the meaning. There is also a distinct difference between how the mainstream Christian faith is acted in today's world, the louder minor groups of supposed Christians, and those of the past.
Someone already was kind enough to explain Mosaic Law; so what changed from here was mainly stable population rises due to stable food and shelter. During the time of Jesus, the population trend was stable, and thus had no need for laws that man placed forth to ensure survival. As the world changes, so does the "religion" or practices of faith. Religion shows devotion to their Creator, and should change with how civilization develops.
To the bs about LGBT vs Christians is the fact that the supposed "Christians" are over stepping their roles as Shepard and playing Judge. The Bible states that this a no no, since we are all bound by sin, so we are not worthy of judging. Being gay is indeed against the Christian teachings, as the Bible explicitly states, but it is between 3 parties, the two partners and God. I am ignorant about the how the Bible and mainstream Christian churches view transgenderism, but same rules should apply.

To those defending Christianity, more so towards karatecowboy, while your explanations were to point, it seemed you were not really explaining the root cause, just trying to polish the surface people were scratching.
Christianity, unlike most faith does not place heavy emphasis on people "do" for God, but what they accept and believe as fact. By doing so, it will naturally change how you perceive and act towards others. The Old Testament is treated as a set of guidelines to follow from example, what not to do, what to do etc; while the New Testament is there to explain how the coming of Christ changed how God wanted man to act. This mainly included being a Shepard, no more sacrifices to appease for forgiveness, and how the end times will roll out.

It sad to see extremists do that to innocent people. I also hope that some racists in this thread(one way or another) should look it another way. It's not what you believe in, it's that people are dying because of what they believe in. Percussion is a horrible thing. I'm sure Muslim and Jewish people know persecution best. The middle ages were full of repercussions for people of most faiths, and especially the non-believers. It sad to see that extremism still exists in the world today. I wish all countries recognized the separation of church and state. I wish everyone stopped killing other for who or what they pray to. You are judged by your words and deeds, not by your actions.

The same Christians with the worlds largest nuclear arsenal and military who have been instigating civil rebellion for decades? The poor dears.
