Having trouble figuring out if I would lose anything by doing so.

I've moved this over to the Advice, Info, Recommendations forum.

You could try VRV's free premium trial first to get an idea of what you get there. Or even just start using it a bit as a free user to understand the basics, then go free premium trial to see that first hand.

I've used it a little and I can say that right now I wouldn't want to use it as a complete replacement for Crunchyroll, but it's a reasonable backup. For one thing, I like Crunchyroll's queue.

But when I know exactly what I'm looking for, VRV is easy to search (at least on apps--I haven't really tried the website functionality) and then play an episode. I've done that without incident. It doesn't seem as reliable as Crunchyroll in keeping track of whether or not you've watched something, and I'm unsure if what it does remember carries across different devices.

I obviously also need to keep using it more to be more familiar with the features and how well they work.

it might be a good idea just because ever since vrv has rolled out, crunchyroll proper has gone down the crapper. i dont know about you butive been getting constant connection interruptions on both the main site and the app, while vrv works perfectly fine.

i tried the vrv combo pack, not what i expected. going to stick with crunchyroll. Why? Yes funimation has many good anime shows that crunchy does not, However, 90% of them are dubbed, if you like dubbed i say go for it. I with few exceptions cant stand dubbed. Hulu has alot of good subbed too, if you can stand their Horrible website layout and more expensive add free subscription.

I just signed up and so far I'd say VRV is a big thumbs down. Unless they improve rapidly, I'll be canceling before the free trial period ends.

My main objection: no option for choosing sub/dubbed, and no subtitles for the hearing impaired on English subs. I don't mind dubs, but I have a mild hearing impairment and must have subtitles. Period.

I have a Funimation account. Yeah, they dub all their shows, however all but the oldest come in Japanese too. In fact, they come out in Japanese with English subtitles a week or two before the English dubs do.
