I would probably show them either the sound of music, my fair lady or titanic

I think it depends on the other person's taste. I mean, if someone told me of this awesome, Oscar winning movie with great acting, music and everything but the story is not something I'd like, I'd probably fall asleep regardless of how great it is because I won't be able to get into it.

Something they find fun and enjoyable, whether it's good or not. Newbies have no evolved taste, showing them stuff "you" like or that's high-minded will turn them off.
