https://www.change.org/p/president-of-the-united-states-declare-antifa-a-terrorist-organization

Terrorism is, in its broadest sense, the use of intentionally indiscriminate violence as a means to create terror or fear, in order to achieve a political, religious, or ideological aim. ANTIFA have demonstrated time and time again that they're more than willing and able to fill these criteria.

We're asking that the president formally declare ANTIFA a domestic terror organization.

honestly, theyreally have, wherever they show up they riot and are violent, they even threw a few M80s at the latest berkely riot, they attack people, smash cars and windows and loot, its absurd

They're an anarchist group that causes riots and violence. The have been involved with inciting violence and riots at Berkeley lately.
I'll bite, yeah I agree they fall under the definition of the word, so I guess I support their labeling as a terrorist organization.

plz... No more, this nonsense is making me cringe. Go soapbox somewhere that is intended for political discussion. I totally agree that what they have done is egregious, but this isn't the place to plaster that kind of stuff, I would prefer if I could avoid other people's political agendas on my way to Konosuba.

Users have asked for a political forum area, there isnt one so it falls under general discussion, sorry
If you want to avoid it then do so

I mean its permitted under General discussion so it is what it is. Wish we could move politics to its own category so those who enjoy debating/discussing issues could do so there and those who don't can easily avoid it. Oh well, one can dream.

Sorry for being passive-aggressive. My main issue with this post was not it being political in nature, and I admit it was productive, as I was not aware of the petition (and have signed on to it now). My issue was the fact that it really does not feel like the place, and I do kinda feel like a git for being so pushy, especially after conceding to the post by signing the petition.

I think many of us who enjoy discussing politics agree with your sentiment that it ought to be segregated from the rest of general discussion and doesn't quite fit in here. There are days I wish to engage in such discussions and others where I just don't want to be bothered, completely get that but we have to work with what we are given I suppose.

I agree they are a domestic terrorist group and this is where the government needs to act accordingly.

There's no such thing as the antifa. It's more of a movement, with different groups which aren't necessarily connected. Sometimes they cooperate, sometimes one group disapproves actions of another group and sometimes their goals are so different that they don't have anything to do with each other.
So you can't label it as a terrorist group because the Antifa as a group doesn't exist.

Well considering the "Battle of/for Berkeley," which they started, then I'm all for calling them terrorists. They bring weapons, use violence and intimidation to accomplish political aims, and they're protecting their identities. Although "using violence and intimidation to accomplish political aims" is the actual definition for a Terrorist.

They ARE terrorists. But for some reason, they've not been legally labeled that yet.
