I have a 200lb 34" widescreen Sony XBR 960 that I haven't used in long time. Will get rid of it whenever I move. Wonder how much I could get for it since it is considered the best consumer CRT ever produced.

No, when I did have one like that I took it to the local dump even though it was still in working condition.

If you live in a college town, maybe once a YEAR, there'd be a one-day community recycling collection of old CRT's and computer monitors--
Or, there were, back before '10, when they still needed to be recycled and people were willing to get rid of them.

Nowadays, you'd have look pretty hard for a charity-collection site under the banner of computer recycling. Not saying they're not around anymore, but good luck.

I not only have a Crt but VCR and a colossal shelf of old anime on tape (eva, golden boy, some ghibli) it's as much a nostalgia thing as it is an aesthetic thing to me. i like the scanlines and how not neat everything looks. im so tired to ultrasharp lines and everything looking so samey.

Nope! Largest television I have is a 65" Samsung QHD. I gave up the massive plasma/CRT televisions up back in 2005.

you must be one of those really early adopters

2005? Samsung introduced the first HDTV in 2005

a 55" LCD HDTV 720p for $25,000 !!

for the same price now i think you can get those 100" 4-8K TV ?

Oh wow, haven't seen this in ages. My parents had one like 15-20 years ago and they used it until it died.

If it's functioning, donate. I'm sure it will find a good home, I've seen a bunch of CRT TVs at my local thrift shop. People still buy them.

CRTs are powerhogs though.. i tested it

a 27" CRT use 109W when a 65" samsung LED use 35W

energy hog and heavy as heck!

even at 27".. it's not easy to pick up and move around..

I've got the 18" crt I've had since I was ~12. Have it hooked up to a digital antennae to pick up the local channels since I have to use for cable.
