Well its good to know you think the American government is similar to ISIS.

The Obama Admin did 'inadvertently' create IS, trained, funded and armed it, but that's beside the point. The people who are similar to ISIS are the ones that rioted and vandalized and looted in 'protest' of the statues, causing Louisiana government to cave in to their demands to remove them.
Edit: I guess it would be the city government that made the decision, not the state. Or federal government like you seem to think.

Its a step. Why do you think ISIS is doing it? So to their children and their children's children, it will not have existed, because that is according to their dogma.

Well its good to know you think the American government is similar to ISIS.

I'm sure 100 years from now archeologists will wish the statues were still in place so they could study the historical value of Jefferson Davis.

I'm guessing there will be a lot of regrets if archeologists need to investigate in just 100 years.

Ya know what suddenly the worthless PM my homeland is cursed with doesn't seems so bad right now. Seriously I hold no love for the Confederate States or anything they stood for. But at the same time I know we can't forget history no matter how unpleasant it may be. All of it the rape, the murder, the theft, the blood, the shame, and the glory. All of it deserves it's place in our memories, so hopefully one day we might learn from it.

They didn't commit treason over the potential end of slavery.

They can be remembered by words on a page in a book. Not a humongous monument that no doubt takes tax money to maintain.

Not sure if the treason thing works. Slavery is morally repugnant, and Redokami poses a good dilemma concerning the moral standards of consistency we apply. However, I think there was a great deal of historical significance to Washington compared to what amounts to a footnote in most historical texts outside of being a historian.

That being said, maybe they could add a placard or something, to put the statue in historical context. I think it would not be so hard to turn a commemorative statue into a neutral one.
