This guy was a SWJ. Don't let a bunch of self-proclaiming privileged salt mounds ruin such a cool concept. Liberty and Justice for All.

I guess social justice warriors do what they do because they feel powerful or special when they go around acting like idiots and making the left look bad.

Most mainstream Democrats fall into the category of SJW. For example, Howard Dean, who believes that the First Amendment does not protect "hate speech" --meaning speech he does not like. Or, for example, Hillary Clinton, who says white people should "check their privilege" --meaning feel guilty about being white, and enact laws that actively discriminate against whites in favor of other races. Or, take any of the many Democrat congressmen who sided with Michael Brown when he got shot trying to murder a police officer --because Brown was black and the officer is white.

They're not nearly as annoying as the people who spend all their time complaining about them and making the edgiest jokes they can because they love offending people. I'll take a dumb 14 year old tumblr user who just discovered feminism over a whiny twenty something crying about feminism any day.

If you are referring to me. I'm not complaining, I'm simply asking for enlightenment.

It's not very deep. Moral crusade, success shaming, race baiting, labeling and regurgitating shit they hear on TV or the internet. That is today's self-proclaimed SJW. The irony is they turned into the same people they hate.

I think most SJW's really hate themselves and it makes them feel better when they can talk down to people who don't share their views. It makes them feel important. In reality they are the least tolerant among everyone.

Rub an ice cube on your nipples first. That really turns them on.

They are stupid. That being said, the term is used to denote an enemy, or what I call an "enemy term", I am not fond of using terms to describe people, especially one like "social justice warrior" that is wholly derived from the internet. I think it brings to a mind a sort of herd or mob instinct, to rally against someone, but I feel it is no different than the people you oppose. Might, or numbers, does not make right.

It is thrown around too often to label anyone who views on solutions and perceived societal inadequacies differ from ones own, usually from a conservative perspective.

Not to knock on you, but I will, but I dislike when people our age use the term. It feels like its fighting liberal indoctrination with conservative indoctrination, both of which I find dangerous to thought and discussion.

I would like to think I have gotten better at this sort of thing, but Iunno.

I can see what you are saying. But dont they call themselves social justice warriors?

Most usage of the term arisen out of a need to determine the enemy. Like these movements, the definitions are amorphous in a way, bought by their ill defined traits. In a sense, because these movements lack cohesiveness and even limits to what constitutes a member, or social justice warrior, so do the terms that describes them.

That being said, it is broadly defined word, to paint people in broadly defined strokes.

The application of enemy terms is sinister, and makes it easier to shut down discussion. That being said, while words like"racist" does have a storied history to derive meaning, people for themselves have not defined what they constitute racism, and they are the ones who usually use it.

Well what do you think about Feminists

The western version? I think the trouble is twofold. First, the perceived nature of a problem, or essentially trying to find problems when they are not any, or making them appeal to be much bigger than they are.

There may be problems, even major ones, but here is my biggest beef with the current movement.

Solutions. Their way usually goes beyond mild education, but a sort of forceful social engineering, trying to get people to think one thing without really trying to get them to reason to it, because they do not care in this case. The ends justify the means, and the conclusion justifies the logic.

Believing in a reasonable conclusion on faulty logic is highly irrational, and to enforce it is to destroy discussion, promote intolerance, and contribute to mob sensibilities.

I would like for people like Richard Spencer of The National Policy Institute to turn away from their supremacist beliefs, but it is more reasonable to use logic and discussions, taking in their points, considering them, check for factual information, and how it should be properly applied or discredited.

Even if you do not convince them, surely you can discredit them in public discourse. Not many people do this.

I am scared, in all honesty. I am not too sure of my own rational capabilities. I am biased like most people, but to see everyone so assured in their politics appears to be damning evidence that we will not come together for years to come, unless we have someone kill millions or other drastic measures in a Watchmen styled plot. Or maybe Independence Day.

I don't think you're really looking to be enlightened, you're looking to have other people confirm your opinion, right? Did you really make this post to hear different opinions or laugh about "social justice warriors"? (Something that everyone on the internet seems be making waaay too big a deal about lately btw)
