Hi guys :)

With Dragon Ball Z Super gaining popularity worldwide, and with Boruto getting so much hype, and with

One Piece remaining as one of the most popular animes of all time, is it possible that those three animes will

create a new big three animes of 2017 onwards ?

No .

It's more like

Attack on Titan

My Hero Academia

One Piece

But the question really is kind of silly , because so many shonen are popular now. Boruto and DB Super and Jojo and HxH are all growing in popularity. (Well I mean the HxH anime is over but you get what i mean)

I think you gotta toss Jojo and My Hero Academia in there, but you can't rule out Dragon Ball Super.

The hype for Boruto will fade. The source is weak.

YMMV

I think you are right. There are so manny popular anime these days that breaks the concept of the big three tha

t was established years ago.

I'm actually excited for Boruto, concerned but excited. Although I agree with you that it doesn't have a base, like the

manga, but who knows it might actually be good anime.

Its more like a big 5 now. At least a big five in shows that have made a lot of episodes (over 50 is a fair benchmark).

One Piece, Dragon Ball Super, Jojo's, Fairy Tail, Hunter X Hunter

Well I mean TECHNICALLY there is a big 3. And that big 3 is Attack on Titan, My Hero Academia, and One Piece.

The reasons for this are simple. One Piece is so popular in Japan that just maintaining that alone makes it one of the most popular anime, but it's pretty popular nowadays in the West too. My Hero Academia is an up and coming shonen that's gotten a lot of praise as one of the more noteworthy and unique series. And Attack on Titan is easily the biggest thing to happen to anime since Death Note.

In comparison, Boruto is the THIRD NARUTO series there is. It's a sequel to a sequel. It's losing steam and many people don't like the art style and concept. Same issue with Dragon Ball Super

Not really. Attack on Titan and My Hero Academia are way more popular than most of the shows you listed. Fairy Tail has been on the decline for a long time now, i don't think Dragon Ball or Hunter x Hunter would be on there either (Hunter x Hunter Manga maybe, not the anime though)

Jojo is really popular but it's a bit too out there to ever be a top 3 i think

I don't think we'll ever have a "Big 3" like we used to again. The internet makes it easy for so many new shonen to get huge fanbases, it's really hard to tell which one is the "biggest" of them all. And in this age where the biggest things are whatever is the newest before we move on to the next season, it's kind of hard for long runners to reach the popularity they used to have.

But honestly I just don't think Boruto will ever take off like Naruto did. Unless it gets dubbed within the next year or so and airs on Toonami or something (which won't happen), I just see it being a thing within a small portion of the online anime community.
