I mean crunchyroll is supposed to be big right? and i'm paying for it. So why isn't there more anime on here? Like i would love to watch detective conan from episode 1 but they start it at like what 700 something? or even watching older animes like slayers or things like that? I'm just disapointed that i'm paying for crunchyroll but yet there's not really alot of anime. and they remove anime as well. why?

There are tons of anime on here.

There might not be the specific series you're looking for, but why not try something new?

There are about 850 shows here...If you haven't found this page yet, check out what they do have:
/videos/anime/alpha?group=all

With legal streaming you aren't going to get everything in one place. It would be like expecting HBO and Showtime to cooperate, or Netflix to join with Hulu, or any of the big broadcasting networks to give up exclusive rights to their main draws, and let them be seen on any channel...

Older shows are especially difficult to get licensing for, because a lot are tied up already, and a lot more would require approval of the backing members of various production committees who have long separated to make other alliances. Plus, other streamers have fragmented availability lately, especially with the likes of big guns Netflix and Amazon jumping into the fray...

I cost a TON of money to license anime. Unlike pirate sites, Crunchyroll (CR) has to pay to stream shows. In real life, companies have a budget, and it's usually not bottomless (sans Amazon, Google, Microsoft). Consequently, CR has to pick and choose what to license within their budget.

Having a budget means not every show will get picked up.

There are also competitors out there that out bid CR for shows (Amazon, Netflix, Funimation, etc.).

Sometimes, there are funky licensing rules that only allow CR to license a certain portion of the show. Sometimes CR can't get a license for every episode. Not CR's fault.

Crunchyroll has a lot of shows, but they won't be able to stream EVERYTHING. It's not profitable and also, it's probably outside their financial means at the moment.

CR has removed shows for a few reasons: their streaming license runs out or they deem the show too unpopular to pay to keep around. Remember, CR has to PAY for the shows they stream. A pirate site does not which is why they can keep shows around.

When you pay CR you are also supporting the anime industry. Having a CR Premium membership is not the only way to support the anime industry, but it is one way. So your monthly/yearly payment is divided up into show licenses, streaming costs, CR employee salaries, and so on.

They have what they have. If you don't like it, stop paying. It's not like you couldn't look at what they had before you paid.

Now, I do agree there is a rather serious problem with the "Viewers Also Liked" section of every anime because it pretty much always says Naruto, One Piece, Dragon Ball, and Bleach. That is basically worthless.

But... there are hundreds of anime here. If you can't find one you want to watch, you're not trying very hard.

Oh for fucks sake...

THERE IS PLENTY ON HERE. AS others already said, other sites like Amazon and Netflix license shows for their sites too

I think it'd be beneficial for you to check a site's catalog before subscribing. Also, as asharka, there's approximately 850 shows in this site. For myself, I think I watched approximately 30% of that; meaning that there's 595 or so shows I haven't touched. I don't now about you, but that's rather plenty to me...

Licenses usually have an expiration date. If a show is popular, I'm sure CR would extend or acquire a new license. For a show that nobody watches? Its likely that they'll let it quietly expire.

Slayers is currently licensed by Funimation so there's always a change the franchise could come to Crunchyroll under the Crunchy-Funi Parnertship, hopefully we will see most of Funimation sub library eventually appear at crunchy.

I signed up mainly to watch a particular show and got hooked on others I hadn't heard of. I also like checking out everything new that comes here. Some of it crap, some of it's amazing. If you want a particular show, perhaps look and see who has the license for it and buy a membership for there? I'm happy with the vast amount of content I get for the price of a couple of rounds of drinks

As other said there is plenty of anime, but discoverability is crap so if you want to find something new get ready to invest a lot time searching and watching stuff that turns out not to be stuff you like. The tools aren't all that good either as some of the categories show get placed in are a bit questionable (School Days is a comedy according to CRs genre search) and the show summaries aren't particularly useful either.

Although at the current pace, that could take until around 2025.

What annoys me is how i'll get into a series and it peters out somewhere in the middle, leaving you hanging with no more episodes coming. I have to drop shows from my que a lot because episodes aren't being updated.

Aside from the license they couldn't get or expiring ones, there are many anime on here that are only allowed to be shown on certain regions. There are over hundreds of anime on cr yet only a few are showing up on the list on my account because I'm from a country that doesn't have the legal rights to have it streamed.
