just saw the promotional video (linked from that digg article). what's with the many, many shots of bikini-clad women winking at the camera? it's almost as if they're trying to bait single rich men into a festival where there is literally nothing, not even decent food... oh.

-- Failed Fyre Music Festival Gets Sued For $100 Million After Influencers Get Trapped On Island

On Sunday, festival attendee Daniel Jung filed a $100 million class-action lawsuit against the organizers, calling the festival "a get-rich-quick scam from the very beginning."
Link to ABC news story on the lawsuit: http://abcnews.go.com/US/fyre-festival-organizers-accused-fraud-100m-class-action/story?id=47125030 (auto playing video, fyi)

They should have canceled long before the festival date, so I do not blame them. It is a scam, and at they very least they deserve their money back, possibly more.

It's certainly shown how ridiculously easy it is to lure a bunch of rich people onto an isolated island.

I cant believe Lord of the Flies was right. Dump a bunch of spoiled rich kids on a beach and they will start attacking each other and creating their own danger.

If I were rich enough to attend the stupid festival I would have been pissed about not getting my money's worth, but I would have walked to the nearby resort town and try to get myself set up until I could get out of there. Like at least try to get myself better food or something and get away from the people setting fires.

I might have even tried to find a gift shop to buy a conch shell so that I could become the leader.

The organizer's of this festival should be sued/penalized because of what they did. On the other hand, I don't feel any sympathy at all for the spoiled, rich, jet-set kids who buzz around to these things.

Maybe someone should organize a "party" for them to go to the scene of some natural disaster and help out, instead of going to some place to get drunk, hook up/etc.

People love a train wreck, especially if they're people you both envy and want to be given a comeuppance. There was a lot of misinformation. It wasn't $12,000 a ticket like many in the media were saying. I paid $4,000 — the VIP Artist Pass I purchased was $2,700 and I owed my buddy another $1,300 for my share of the $8,000 VIP villa we were supposed to be staying in. Yeah, that's a lot of money, but that's what I thought it would cost to spend four nights in the Bahamas hanging out with A-list celebrities. I was supposed to be flown in on a private plane with Wolfgang Puck making me omelets for breakfast. For $4,000, that's pretty damn cheap.

so not quite $12k, and some of the people affected are average people that saved their money for this trip.

meanwhile...

even their response is a train-wreck
