So for the last 2 weeks I've noticed a link to "A talk on titan" listed on the front page of Crunhyroll. Seemed interesting and after watching the most recent episode of AoT itself, I clicked to watch it.

This video is not available.
Sorry about that.

Um....is this region locked to the US or something? If so....why? I pay for Crunchyroll as well as Americans, AoT itself isn't region locked. Why am I locked out of this content that seems to be created by Crunhyroll itself? Seems unfair, especially when you keep featuring it on the main page's scrolling thing.

NOTE: Located in Australia.

Was it posted on April 1st? If not, then it's one of those Youtube things. Youtube has this retarded system of automatically pulling down any video that is reported for copyright infringement, even when you have fair use laws that allow to use protected content. For example, an article about a program can have clips from the program to illustrate points being made in a review of that program.

Youtube doesn't care about fair use. So, maybe that's what happened to the video.

Yeah. Alphabet the parent company of Google and you tube is so in bed with the riaa and other mega Hollywood media corporations and unions, they take a sledgehammer approach to anything that might slightly infringe on one of their advertisers parent companies properties. Add to that the zero tolerance in Japan toward fair use in favor of brand control and this should come as no surprise. Think the banhammer on all things Nintendo.

A Talk on Titan is hosted on CR's official YouTube account. A quick check makes it appear the series is not available in Australia and a few other countries. If AoT is available on CR in Australia it does seem odd that Talk on Titan isn't, but I assume there's some legal reason for that.

Off topic: VPNs are really cool, for example: the free one built in to a browser that shares its name with a type of music. Wink, wink.

It must be a region restriction thing with YouTube and Australia then, because I tried three of the videos and they all started playing just fine for me and I'm in the U.S.. Also, at DeadlyOats, no, none of the videos were posted on April 1st. The first video was posted to YouTube on April 3rd and the others have come later.

Most vpn's also sell your browsing history so you should do a bit of research there. After the latest legislation in the US freeing isp's to sell your browsing history. Android police, PC magizene and others looked into the so called "privacy policy" of the most popular vpn's and discovered they were also not only collaberating with government agencies in the US and Iran but, were also selling their subscribers browsing history with user identifiable info.

Vpn's might let you get past region locks but they are also a Trojan horse for survalence by some of the worst. Do a bit of research with reputable non partisan sources before you sign up for some hokey bs VPN.

Recently it has come to light that uber bought very specific user data from unrollme to attack lyft drivers. Just saying....

So, I just fast forwarded through some of the A Talk on Titan shows.... Episode 1 and three have NOTHING!!!! No video clips, no audio clips. NOTHING!!!! Episode 2 plays the opening theme music and opening animation for the theme music, but the podcast host talks all over the OP of the early episodes of AoT. The rest is a real crappy image of Erin.....

I have no idea why any of that would be blocked.

Now that I think about it, I remember seeing A Talk on Titan, and clicking on it, and seeing the Sorry Youtube box, too. After that, I promptly forgot about it.

But now that I've scanned through the first three episodes.... I don't understand why there would be a reason for Youtube to block it.....

I think it's just time for an alternative to take over from Youtube, and for use to just let Youtube fade away.

Strange, episode 1 and 2 seem to play, but episodes 3 and 4 seem to be region locked.

Based on that I'm guessing that this is more Youtube's doing rather than Crunchyroll choosing to lock off the videos in my country.

it's a shame, but I don't feel the effort is warranted to try and look them up. Ah well *shrugs*

I've moved this to Site Support / Minor Questions. To increase the chances of having a staff person provide an answer (and maybe look into how they can get YouTube to make it available) I suggest contacting customer support using the /contact form.
