Ted Cruz. Had a brain storm and came up with a winner.

It's called the Ensuring Lawful Collection of Hidden Assets to Provide Order Act, or the "EL Chapo" Act, for short. Genius acronym, eh?

This plan is genius!!! Why not grab his assets and use it to pay for the wall? Normally, ill gotten assets seized by the government go into a general fund, but this bill will direct ill gotten assets seized from convicted drug lords go to pay for the border wall - AND - border protection operations. Well.... That's a really good idea!

How are we going to get the money though? Is it just laying around in a vault somewhere?

Though from what I know, assets seized and personal fortune may be a bit different?

Apparently, there is $14 billion of assets. Is it like the bank where they sell off your collateral?

I suppose there will be a great deal of money, seeing as it is seized from the drug trade, but I worry about the continue fight against the war on drugs, or at least as a whole. It needs to definitely be modified, or stopped, at least with the current homeland system.

I feel bad for the people who neighborhoods are being split in half because the wall is going right threw it. Its also cutting a multi million dollar golf course into 2. I feel bad for that women whos house who was on cnn that the wall is being built right in front of it and her property in on the Mexico side of it so her house is in Mexico. I think trump just annexed her house and its now considered to have a Mexico address. The sad part is she voted for trump.

Part of the case against him will be to show that El Chapo put his money all over the world. Whether he bought stocks and bonds in companies and governments around the world. Or whether it's in numbered Swiss accounts, or whatever. It's up to the government to prove where he hid his money.

By international law, when a government proves the money is from ill gotten gains, it can be seized, and the governments from other countries will cooperate and give it to the requesting government. In this case, the requesting government will be the United States, and the ill gotten gains belong to El Chapo.

These laws and arrangements have always existed. So, even if this El Chapo Act does not pass, the U.S. will still seize those assets. The difference is that it will go into the general fund instead of specifically to pay for the wall.

At least, with the EL Chapo Act, those ill gotten gains can pay for the wall, and other border protection operations, without having to raise to much of a separate tax for it.

EDIT:

This is not Trump's idea, it is Ted Cruz's idea.

I'm still not convinced the wall would be a good idea. It would hurt the migration of some wildlife. It gives land and Americans to Mexico. They would continue to go around and under it. Face it... the cartels have plenty of money... they would still find a way here. Planes... boats... subs... drones... every day people going through the border crossing. They can't check them all.

Maybe some kind of token barrier with sensors, radars and watch posts every so often. Technology and manpower. Then... you have to stop the reasons they come here to begin with. Hire illegals? Face consequences... real consequences... jail... huge fines... business taken from you... kind of things. Legalize weed already... it's well past time. I have seen alcohol ruin more lives than weed has. Their biggest problem with legalizing it... is they wouldn't be able to collect taxes on all the stuff people could grow themselves. Boo hoo. Then focus on busting the hell out of the seriously harmful drugs that come out of there. Take enough of their money and they might have to consider new occupations.

I think the wall is a bullshit scheme to make Trump... or some of his pals... one of his pals... all of the above... richer. And I voted for Trump... he has been making me regret that though.

If you could recover $14 billion in assets for government use there are countless other things it could be better used for then building half of Trump's idiotic vanity project.

Not sure what the point of that is. The last thing we need is more untruthful politicians doing what is "good" for us. His whole campaign was against decrying people like the Clintons and Cruz that subvert the republic democracy through dishonest dealings. He won by appealing to some segment of the population.

Just saying. In which case, I'd say your measure of his beneficial duplicity would require some knowledge of the man not known to anyone else who has not met him either, whereas Ryu does it based on his policies at the very least, to which Trump is adamant on upholding the wall.
