So, I've been using Crunchyroll for a long time, and I usually watch watch 2 episodes of whatever I'm currently watching on my hour lunch at work on my phone. Everything was working normally and fine, but a little over a month ago everything started lagging like crazy.

It now takes me an hour just to get through one episode. It plays for about 30 seconds at least and then starts buffering and replays the audio of the last 20-ish seconds while there's a frozen image on the screen. Then it buffers again, and if it's not satisfied with whatever it's trying to do, it loops back again. Usually I just fix this by fast-forwarding 10 seconds but then it buffers and is good for another 30 seconds before the process starts over again.

Sure, the thought crossed my mind that it could be my network or the building blocking the signal, but other streaming apps like Netflix, YouTube, Amazon Video, even Funimation work just perfectly fine with no hiccups. And of course I thought about server traffic because I was watching the latest episodes of whatever is currently updating, but it still does it for finished series.

My only thought process now is that there might have been an update with the mobile app that caused come instibility with my OS, or that my phone's hardware is getting out of date even though it's only a little over a year old.

So needless to say, I'm pretty frustrated with trying to get this to work. Any insight?

I'm having the exact same issue. I've tried setting the quality to low, logging out, uninstalling and reinstalling from google play, nothing works. I'm using a Samsung galaxy s7.

should check the data usage

pretty sure they did something recently to increase the bit rate to a high amount so your internet connection can't keep up
been mention in a few other threads on here for a few months now but they seem to be just ignoring it

I'm having the exact same issue on my brand new Galaxy S8+. Constant playback stoppage while on a stable 4G LTE connection. There's no way I'm experiencing this due to outdated hardware as this phone was just released a few weeks ago. I didn't have any issues with my Galaxy S5.

Same problem on S6 edge, there has to be some problem with the app, if I tether or Hotspot to my pc I can watch fine, hoping this is fixed soon, I don't have WiFi where I am and the service is unusable unless I burn through my hotspot and use my pc.

Same. It basically makes the mobile app useless, I want to be able to use the app on the go using my 4G-LTE but it seems like it only works on Wi-Fi. YouTube, Hulu, and Netflix all work just fine on my 4G.

Same issue on my Galaxy tablet. No issues on pc though

In addition when it starts to buffer it just keeps buffering forever. If I restart the app it's fine but only for a few seconds before buffering again

I'm having the same problem with my S7 and have really noticed it in the past week. A show would constantly buffer or the audio would keep play while the picture is frozen.
