Usually salvage what I can from the source and toss whatever I don't need. Most of the stuff I have is either brand new, or totally beyond saving and needs to be replaced.

I don't want to become a hoarder like my uncle. If the Salvation Army will take it, I give it to them. Everything else I give to my neighbor for her annual church yard sale.

The concept of not needing something is not a concept in my mind... Unfortunately.

If it's clothes in decent shape then I just donate them. If it's not clothes then I ask if people want it and all the unwanted things I just throw out.

Bury the undesirables in my backyard, make sure to coat it in bleach so it doesn't develop a pungent smell. I haven't had visitors in a while.

Do some houses have attics AND basements in them or no?

Yes. It mostly depends on how urban your setting is, which is primarily about the amount of space you have available. My house has an attic, a basement, a barn, three sheds, and a stable... but it's also sitting on ten acres.

In a trash bag and put it in storage. I will donate stuff I don't use anymore. I usually have to put my summer clothes in the storage for the winter and vice versa. I'm a pretty organized person I can't see myself being a hoarder.

I'd say the only thing piling up are the books I put in storage that I need to get rid of.

1. give away as gifts to friends/family

2. donate to goodwill

3. Try to sell on eBay

4. throw in the trash

5. Give items to my mom so she can give her friend. Her friend goes to Cuba and brings as many things possible for her own family.

If it's something that can be practical (parts, batteries, cables, etc) - I tend to keep them stored away, organized and labeled. This comes in handy when looking for things like Micro USB cables, servo controllers, and jumper wires.

If it's something that's somewhat materialistic (clothing, electronics, phones, devices) .. I tend to donate them to Children's Hospital (if appropriate) or give them to friends if they want them.
