Comey definitely has tainted the FBI seeing that he is the one who sent Trump to the White House after what he did to put a halt on Clinton's campaign at the worst possible time, all due to unsubstantiated speculation. And then there's this stuff with Russia that got him fired. He just doesn't understand what being the FBI director is all about.

Did Comey feed Hillary questions that would come up in debates? Did Comey tell Hillary not to go to Wisconsin, Michigan? Did Comey influence the unpopular message of carrying on Obama's failed policies? Did Comey marginalize Bernie Sanders?

No Hillary lost the election all on her own. I do agree that Comey has tainted the credibility of the FBI.

CIA wouldn't be the ones leading the investigation that would be the FBI which is leading the investigation and they don't normally talk about what they do or don't have until warrants start dropping. There are currently two sealed warrants out of one of the two Grand Juries that are currently being run out of the Eastern District of Virginia, I expect more in the coming days.

Also throwing shade on a subject is a time honored method of putting the subject of an investigation at ease so they will make more mistakes. So saying nope nothing there isn't uncommon to hear from people in the know when there is an ongoing investigation. This of course changes when warrants start dropping as i stated.

No Trump fired Comey over Russia no matter how you attempt to justify it with his words. With Comey coming to the Rosenstein asking for more money to expand the investigation it is pretty clear Trump panicked and did this in a attempt to stop the investigation. This action of course will not have the desired effect and will end up speeding things up just like it did when Nixon fired Cox during Watergate.

If Trump didn't like Comey's treatment of Hillary why didn't he fire Comey day one which is when he should have fired him. As John Dean stated last night when asked if it looks like a cover up it is a cover up. Dean for you kids was Nixon's White House Counsel so he knows a thing or two about cover ups and what happens when the President is lying his ass off to do so.

On your first day as president your getting bombarded with everything. Trump was still pushing through his secretaries and fulfilling campaign promises. I don't think he wanted to search for a new director till he had competent people that could help him with the search. Trump runs things like a CEO so he relies on his secretary to help him fill in skill/knowledge gaps instead of relying on the GOP.

Nice excuse this guy was supposed to be a pro a pro doesn't let how much work they have bother them they do the job. So if Comey needed to go it could have been day one or week one not, the day after he asks for more fund to increase the investigation. No that stinks of cover up and the fact that someone is getting close or appears to be getting close to the truth.

Just in FBI raids political firm connected to Paul Manafort and Roger Stone. Now we get to see how little this actually impacts the investigation into Trump and his campaign and the connections to Russia. How high does this go and why knew what when. Nixon didn't go down because of the break in at the Watergate he went down because he covered it up. Trump is doing the same thing trying to cover up the miss deeds of his underlings. That alone is an impeachable offense that is what got Nixon the cover up. Clinton got busted for lying same thing here.

Well democrats are calling for impeachment. How can you get impeached for doing something well within your authority?

Specifically look at the section on "High Crimes and Misdemeanors".

While it's legal for a President to fire anyone working for him for any "justifiably legal" reason, Trump's admission of "Obstruction of Justice" is another story altogether. Obstructing a Federal Investigation is a big no-no (as Tricky Dick found out in Watergate). Now, just today, two other Agency heads (Dan Coats and Michael Rogers) accused Trump of trying to coerce them in making the Russia investigation go away by lying about it. This would most likely fall under the "Articles of Impeachment" category "High Crimes and Misdemeanors".

I don't think discussing the possibility of impeachment if the president is guilty of a crime and actively calling for impeachment are the same thing. Democrats want him impeached because (they want the White House back obviously and this'll be good political fodder) they believe he is guilty. Republicans don't think he is guilty and would rather him stay. Let's not get carried away. Though Pence would be a much better president the optics would be bad. Though republicans could use it as an example of putting country over politics.

I think those hoping for a smoking gun would be sorely disappointed.

That is the comment that started the whole controversy.

WikiLeaks doesn't give up their sources, which is one reason people go to them with important information.

So you probably won't see evidence of Trump and Putin in a back room scheming for the downfall of an already disliked career politician.(I'll gladly eat crow if that actually turns out to be the case) But they both wanted to take down Clinton so they had a common goal.
