Episode 1

I don't know what to make of it. It looks fine to me, it will take time to really get into the plot.

You have these two antagonistic forces fighting each other, so that makes a things a little more complicated.

I do like how the main character he is involved with this big world conflict before even the series began. So no need to waste time explaining stuff to him. I guess the green haired fat kid is going to be the represent the viewers, because he is clueless of what is going on, so as he learns, so well we.

So this is Yu Gi Oh meets SAO, you have these sort of virtual world with people having these ultra egos, I am getting an SAO vibe from that.

Anyway interested to see where is goes, is it as goes 5Ds only time will tell. In terms of instant connection with the characters, I think Arc V because I instant cared about those characters very quickly, I don't have that yet with this show, but that is what happens when you focus more on story than characters.

This is already off to a better start than Zexal and Arc-V.

Spoiler because of length

I've just finished watching the first episode, I love it - Yu-Gi-Oh! has gone 100% cyberpunk!

The first episode had dystopian mega corp, warring factions of hackers, against the backdrop of a world where virtual reality is part of the mainstream. Of course now, it's all that with a card game in Yu-Gi-Oh!'s typically awesome and over-the-top style.

Speaking of which, I'm curious about how this show's VR system actually works. The thing about VR is that a person's physical body remains stationary while they experience a VR environment. Yet it looked like Yuusaku was able to digitise himself and physically enter the VR environment, like something out of Digimon. Very curious indeed.

Anyway, so far I'm extremely hyped for VRAINS; I'm liking this far more than the likes of Zexal and Arc-V. It feels good to finally have a more mature Yu-Gi-Oh! series again.

Now if Konami would VRAINS as an opportunity to make a real Yu-Gi-Oh! VR game for something like PlayStation VR then that would make my year.

I'm impressed by the first episode. The show has a mature feel to it and Yusaku seems like a decent protagonist so far (hope we learn more about his character as the season progresses). I guess they introduced they antagonists already? I feel like the first episode kinda dropped us in the middle of the story but so far has a lot of my interest.

I'm also pretty curious to see the duels soon and their mechanics (anime wise anyway) especially for the new monsters.

I think it was a solid first episode, despite not having an actual duel, it definitely picked my interest

I really enjoyed the first episode. I think it's off to a solid start, and it already has my attention more than either Zexal or Arc-V ever did. Plus, I like the fact that the characters are a little bit older than they have been in the last couple series. So far this show seems more mature, like it's being targeted to an older audience. I'm happy with that, because I'm really hoping for a series that's more along the lines of 5D's than Zexal or Arc-V.

Honestly, I don't even mind that there wasn't a duel in the first episode because I watch Yu-Gi-Oh...

Just watched the first episode and it was on point. The best first episode of all the spin-off series, so I have high hopes. I wish it had ZeXal's level of animation though... makes me sad that they went for the low budget animation in Arc-V and Vrains.

Still hoping beyond hope that CR is able to pick this up very soon for simulcast release. It would be nice to finally be able to watch it here right as it comes out.

Not going to lie, I'm pretty disappointed that the Speed Duels are the same duels that in Duel Links, at least they introduced Link Monsters. I feel that with the restrictions Speed Duels could get less exciting than regular duels, but at least those exist in VRAINS, so maybe we could see a couple throughout the series.

On the positive note, I now really want to know about Yusaku's backstory, it looks interesting, and you can die in Speed Duels?! Man, this could get serious, I'm pretty excited about those implications

I'm also not a fan of speed duels. Since they actually differentiated between speed duels and master (I guess that's the regular kind) duels, I hope this means we'll see more than just speed duels. It could get annoying if it's speed duels 90%+ of the time. I'll let it slide for now since the duel actually looked pretty good. They're using the video game-like setting to their advantage. I really don't like comparing this to SAO, but the way they swipe their hands to make things appears reminded me of that. There's also that Skill that could add some diversity to the duels if executed properly. I laughed at how this knight's Skill is basically to pull Pot of Greed out of nowhere. And Yusaku's Skill being a Shining Draw. If Yuma and Yuya can create cards out of thin air, might as well make it as blatant as possible with Yusaku right from the start and explain it with in-universe mechanics. Link summon animation could take some getting used to.

I'm assuming that Yusaku's past is related to the Cyberse since he already had Cyberse cards and apparently only SOL Tech and the Knights knew of its existence. That flashback that showed Yusaku as a kid looked like he was being rescued from some major incident. Makes me want to know what exactly happened to him that made him the way he is now. He was already familiar with the rules of speed duels subconsciously.

I take back what I said last week. It turns out people really can die in real life if they die in the game. Not only that, but people can also suffer from mental damage in speed duels. There's a difference between dying in speed duels and those people getting burned by the dragon in episode 1, right? Because if not...

Episode 2

So are first duel and lasts one episode, well I am okay with that. We have to showcase Yusaku's strength, and struggling against his first opponent would make him look weak. So it had to end in one episode.

So what is Yusaku's connection with the Cyberse, and what not, We know very little about him, and he is the main character. I still think we need to learn more about Yusaku so we can relate to him.

So you can die in this demention, so this is SAO, holly crap.

I am glad Aoi helped him, nice to see female characters do something, though a third getting involved in a duel, is that allowed?

So we began what could be the most darkest Yu Gi Oh series ever.
