i wish they would just let the series die it just gets worse and worse the cards and rules get really pathetic and stupid and they ban in my opinion the series should have ended when yugi beat the pharaoh i have tried over the years to watch other seasons but they seemed to of lacked what duel monsters had that made the series so epic in the first place

I really enjoyed this episode. Personally, I don't like speed duels very much, since they don't have a Main Phase 2. Yet the battle itself was well done, visually appealing and a good showcase of the new mechanics for this season. I think that I won't mind if there are more speed duels in the future, if they're all as well done as this episode then I think VRAINS is well on the way to becoming one of the best Yu-Gi-Oh! series ever made.

I also noticed certain parallels between VRAINS and the classic Yu-Gi-Oh! series. More specifically, I’m talking about the VR arc in season 3, where everyone was trapped in a VR duel world and had to fight the Big Five. That arc introduced the ‘Deck Master’ mechanic, which allowed a special monster, kept on the sidelines, to have a key once-per-duel ability that could impact the game somehow. Which isn’t so different to these duel skills in VRAINS.

Anyway, I can't wait for episode 3. I'm excited to see more of the story unfold and learn more about the world of VRAINS.

Episode 3

So this is a cool down episode, Playmaker is now a big celebrity, and with that he is a big target of everyone.

I have to admit, I thought Onizuka was going to take the offer and duel Yusaku, they will gain respect in their duel and Onizuka would be on Yusaku's side, that could still happened based on the preview.

I wonder is Revolver one of those 6? Perhaps.

And finally Ema, I have to say it, she is related to Yusaku, has to be, they look too similar. So probably his mother, maybe his older sister, most likely mother, that is my theory and prediction.

Anyway good episode, can't wait to see what happens next.

3 episodes. 1 duel. Just another day in Vrains.

The Knight of Hanoi gets eaten by Ignis and nobody cares. Playmaker becomes a celebrity and everyone loses their minds!

There a few interesting things we got to see of Revolver this episode. 1) We saw his silhouette in real life. 2) It seems he's doing these things for his father who appears to be in a coma. I guess the rival with the little brother trope was getting old. 3) He also listed 3 things like Yusaku always does and like I just did. There's definitely some connection between the two.

I really love how VRAINS is developing as a story. Fewer duels then other Yu-Gi-Oh! seasons starts but they're putting a lot more effort into world building. It's only three episodes in but already I'm investing in this world and its character, I want to know how the story ends.

Furthermore, this episode revealed something important: a user of VRAINS isn't physically digitised, their body remains in the physical world while they interact with the VR environment via an avatar. We see this quite clearly with Revolver, he exits VR and 'wakes up' in some kind of interface that allows him to control his avatar. Evidently though, there appears to be a wide variety of machines created for this purpose, the boxing ring used by Onizuka to enter VR is a very different set-up to Revolver’s reclining chair.

Also, Ignis should never be left alone. He's planning to upgrade the cleaning bot's AI to make it more self-aware, in exchange for being his follower. Yusaku needs to kill Ignis now before he starts the robot apocalypse!

I'm really enjoying it right now, despite the fact that there has been only 1 duel, it might be because of that, actually. I really like the way they are focusing more on the characters and story instead of just dueling and showcasing link summoning, if I didn't now any better I would say Konami turned less greedy XD. Also, I'm really starting to buy the theory that Revolver is connected to Yusaku in some way, who knows, he may be the person Yusaku mentioned during his duel, the one that helped him during his childhood.

My guess is that this will turn up here at CR at a later time, like other shows in the franchise.

Great Yu-Gi-Oh series. It has me wanting more as soon as it ends. The duels are hyped and so far (1) have not disappointed. Episode 4 will see if it was a fluke or if the dueling will really be exciting.

I'm really liking it so far! The duels are exciting and fun and I'm looking forward to the next one. I like the protagonist (Yusaku?) because he's such a breath of fresh air compared to the last two. Not that I disliked Yuya but I'm was getting a little bored of the quirky, hyper, childish protagonists, so it's nice to see one that's a little older, more mature and a lot calmer than the previous two (and Jaden).

Overall it's super promising and I like the cyberpunk vibe it gives off. Can't wait for the next episode! :D

Episode 4

So Yuusaku is dueling Go Onizuka a character who is an Arc V character with a 5D backstory.

Are first two part duel, I mean we can't Go being defeated in one episode. So Go didn't take the big corporation's money, he is going to Yuusaku for his own pride.

Well maybe end of the duel, Onizuka a way to get popular again is team up with Yuusaku or hunt some knights of your own. End of the duel, they might not be friends, but there will be respect.

Question I have, how long till all the protagonists know each other's true identities, though Onizuka doesn't count because his avatar and his avatar name, it is the real him, he doesn't have an alto ego like the others.

Episode 5

So the Yusaku / Onizuka duel ended the way I expected. With Yusaku having a chance to escape but out of respect of Onizuka's desires and / or just because he is having fun, he declines and finishes the duel.

I thought they were going for a tie, but Yusaku comes from behind to win, but Onizuka's looks good and regains the orphans respect. I am disappointed after the duel that Yusaku did not help Onizuka as a gesture of good sportsmen ship, he just left, that is kind of a turn off, I guess he is not the type of guy who keeps himself at a distance from others. If other Yu Gi Oh protagonist even Yusei would have done that, just saying.

So next episode, as I thought it is Aoi's turn to encounter Yusaku. And a couple or shocking reveals in the previews, first of all Aoi is the sister of the SOL Technology guy Akira. I am not sure if it is a Yu Gi Oh trope, but an old trope the good guy little sister and the misguided and villain big brother. And Yusaku knows Blue Angel's identity. With Onizuka not having a secret identity and knowing Aoi is Blue Angel, when he is ready to have allies, it would be easier to form a team, but I don't know how long until Yusaku is ready to accept he can't do this alone.
