I remember back when Toonami had the magical Cigarette Toothpick in Kenshin. Half the time it was a toothpick and the other times it was a cigarette.Yeah Toonami did cut blood sometimes like Harry spitting out blood when he dies in Outlaw Staror Trunks puking up blood after Cell kills him. But Toonami never so badly cesnored that it took alot away though I love when Toonami always left in cursing.

The biggest diffrence is Japan uses black fog to cover naked bodies or over violence or they make people like barbie and ken dolls.

Both have their uses. Some people don't like gore too much, so censorship lets them watch it.

Some people are gore-hounds so they want uncensored. I really don't mind either way. Censorship done right is actually better than showing everything. Love Tyrant did a good example of this in the sister introduction episode. That censor made me laugh. If they had shown everything... Meh, its just a naked anime chick. Who cares?

I enjoy both censored and uncensored material. Uncensored Tokyo Ghoul, Censored Shimoneta (the entire series is about censoring, it adds to it imo).

I haven't seen the particular (Love Tyrant) episode to which you refer, but I think I know the type you mean: where some manner of object or comical "censor" sign is put over part of the scene to obscure something, in a manner used for comedic effect.

Thing is, that's not actually censorship at all. The comedic "censor" bar/ item/ whatever obscures it *IS* the intended work of art. The "censor" itself is the work as intended, and is integral to the intended effect of the scene. In fact, to then *remove* that "censor" in post-production would be the *actual* censorship.

Actual censorship would be where the scene is altered from the artists' intent, and is almost always obnoxious and intrusive.

I don't care much for fan service, but I'm generally annoyed by censors. They look ugly and make me feel like I'm being treated as a child. haha

When I watched To Love Ru Darkness here on CR, I think that was one of the worst cases of censorship. I'm no pervert or anything but since the show is meant to be weird (Ecchi) and then you just block that up, it kinda spoils it for you.

Only thing I can even say in support of censorship is that sometimes, it stops you from seeing something so horrific that it ruins the experience.

But that in of itself is also a problem. If you weren't shock and terrified that the villain easily beheads people, kicks puppies, chain smokes and litters, then it makes the villain seem less... villain-y.

how do you like to enjoy your media ? censored or uncensored ?

personally, just slap the appropriate ratings on the series/movie instead of censoring everything out

I would want a refund if they cover half of the screen like this

which series is this from ? I've never seen censoring this bad before. It's 2/3 of the screen

it's a common trend to wait for the Blu-ray version of some series if you want the uncensored version

though i have to admit that some manga series are too graphic to animate-- often time they will end up as OVAs instead

that is not always the case though

i think the version

Pretty sure that's from Terraformars. 2/3 the screen is censored because 2/3 of the screen is people being dismembered and/or disemboweled. One of the few anime shows I've dropped after a few episodes. Not that I mind graphic violence, but that seems to be literally ALL there is to the show. The writers seem to have put little thought into the plot beyond "how do I set up the next shocking and improbably gruesome death scene?", and character development is pretty much just standard tropes to try to get you to give a shit about whatever character is going to get splattered next. *yawn*

I prefer uncensored. Censored ruins the animes.

the series is

https://myanimelist.net/anime/22687/Terra_Formars/

the level of blood and gore in this series is on par with Hellsing Ultimate and Tokyo Ghoul

I didn't know for some series the Blu-ray version is actually worst. I'm sure they will have to censor out things when on tv but on physical media

maybe the OVAs will be less censored
