I guess next generation series might be more appropriate, but still. I was reading the reviews on the anime and this little tidbit of information pops up, and I didn't believe it. Then I go look up the series that was named (Suzuka) and I'm like.... holy crap, this is why
and also why it is significant that...

My next question I guess I should ask, is Suzuka worth a read considering I'm enjoying Fuuka (with it's faults and everything, including the way the anime was handled). I don't have the money to spend on an entire 20 something volume manga series right now but I'm curious either way if I should do so eventually. Would I be better off heading over to Funimation to watch the anime adaptation instead?

Accidental double post here (somehow), don't know how to delete it.

I really like Suzuka, but it is notably different in content from Fuuka. I'd suggest giving it a try, but don't get yourself in too deep without checking it out first.

Wouldn't a person have to check something out to even start to get deep?

I heard it's kind of similar except while Fuuka centers on music, Suzuka centers on sports. But both are focused on romance.

The author's other series 'Kimi no Iru Machi' happens in the same universe so some characters from both Suzuka and Fuuka pop up there too, I heard.

Suzuka is a painful read, and there is not much connection between the two stories anyways. Suzuka just happens to be the mother of Fuuka. Also, Fuuka as a character is very likable; the same cannot be said about her mother, though.

That said, I have read the entire Suzuka manga before starting on Fuuka. And chapter 36 broke my heart.

I didn't at first, now I do and wish I didn't. He made Suzuka worse because of the events in Fuuka. I've never seen that in manga before. That's some Alien 3 killing Newt shit.

That is an excellent analogy. I was trying to come up with an example that sums up the feeling. And you've nailed it!

I think Seo somewhat regretted what he did in the manga (Fuuka). So he gladly approved the change in the anime. He probably even helped with the new story line, as he was so enthusiastic about it in his tweets.

I did't even know that till i saw this thread, though i had my suspicions since its the same artstyle as Suzuka, Kimi no Iru Mach and Princess Lucia.
Suzuka is a rather drawn out series that makes it hard to keep reading it after a while(it did for me) but Fuuka is much better then that, so seems the author seems to have learned a little from his mistakes.
