Political correctness has lead to thought crime in Sweden. These socialists in Sweden seem to be trying to compete with Hitler and Stalin on who can conttol the actions and thoughts of their people the best.

A 70-year-old woman in Dalarna is charged with hateful people since Facebook wrote that immigrants fulfill their needs in the streets, writes DT.se.

According to the prosecution, the woman via Facebook should have expressed disdain on people with a foreign background.

In a post from 2015, she has written that immigrants "fire cars and kisses and go to the streets".

This violates the law in the face of the public, says the prosecutor.

The prosecuted woman has acknowledged that she wrote the post, but denied that she had committed a criminal act.

As proof of the 70-year-old woman there is a screenshot from Facebook.

The penalty for hatred against the people's group is imprisonment for a maximum of two years or, in the event of a fine, fines. If the crime is considered to be grossly convicted, the accused is sentenced to imprisonment for at least six months and no more than four years.

Honestly, google translate is a mess so I don't know what to make of this. "Fire cars and kisses and go to the streets"? The hell does that mean?

But seriously, it's not a thought crime when you are punished for saying something. Then it's a speech crime. They aren't the same thing.

So how m any rubles did you get paid for this post comrade? Crunchyroll shouldn't allow paid trolls like you to post.

That word salad makes her sound like Sarah Palin.

I find it ironic that fascists/conservatives complain about what's going on in other countries while the republican/fascist controlled governments in south and midwest pass law after law saying what doctors must tell patients and what scientists are allowed (or more specially not allowed) to say about climate change.

First, Sweden isn't Socialist. Second, I am so far from being able to make heads or tails of the Google Translate (assumed) excerpt from that article that I have no way to comment on it.

You are taking it too literally, since well....it is not like anyone can read minds, and our understanding of the brain and such is so limited so we cannot go Minority Report/Psycho Pass on people. Heck, did 1984's Ingsoc actually have that technology?

Which, to go on a tangent, destroys the points of said movies and anime, in a certain way, by making the system not work, instead of following the hypothetical, it does, it can, and it is usually spot on. This destroys the opposing argument by changing it to another one.

Well, I guess what I'm trying to say is that thought crimes are typically thought of as crimes of belief, not of action. It stops being a thought crime when you start shouting from the rooftops (or the digital rooftops ala Facebook). At that point, it becomes a crime of action such as "hate speech".

Basically, thought crimes relate to private beliefs while speech crimes relate to public speech. I think this distinction is clear in, for example UK hate speech laws:

A person who uses threatening, abusive or insulting words or behaviour, or displays any written material which is threatening, abusive or insulting, is guilty of an offence if—

(a) they intends thereby to stir up racial hatred, or
(b) having regard to all the circumstances racial hatred is likely to be stirred up thereby.

The comments must be public in nature and "racial hatred [needs to be] likely to be stirred up thereby". As I said, I don't really know if this constitutes hate speech due to the terrible-ness of google translate, but that is a separate conversation.

But I am just being pedantic here. I acknowledge that. I just don't like when buzzwords like "thought crime" are thrown around so nonchalantly.

nowhere does it say they are socialists.

Socialists don't want thought crime to be a thing.

Can I ask a valid question? Why is it that when a person on CR that is from another country posts about America, Ruji and others are quick to pull the "Hey, you are from Canada wtf do you care what happens here?" However, a majority of their posts are about stuff that happens in other countries.

That being said, that google translate version of her comments makes no sense at all.

It sounds like some weird New Age lyrics: Fire cars and kisses and go to the street!

"Invandrare eldar upp bilar och kissar och bajsar på gatorna" translates roughly to "immigrants set cars on fire and urinate and defecate on the streets." I haven't seen the rest of the facebook post.

I'm not going to take part in the conversation more than clearing that out.

I was thinking the same thing. All kinds of weird imagery went through my head when I read
that part as if it were a music video. A girl blowing kisses in the air in front of a car on fire with a
fire truck behind it all putting the car fire out in the middle of the street at some protest rally. Bits
of water misting the camera lens.

I need to lay off the sauce or get a job making shitty music videos...

If you live in Sweden it would be safer, legally speaking, to just step away from this topic.

I don't live in Sweden (never been there actually). It's just that debating over an article from a politically biased media on an anime forum seems like a waste of time and energy to me. Especially when most people here don't even understand the article.

Interesting, There lot of bitter old man out here in USA! XD My sister was telling me that at her work place there this mean old guy, that would tell her that he think women should be third citizen! Other word, bow down to man.. don't talk back to them.. should be at home all of the time cooking them meals, shouldn't have the right to votes and should accept man having sex with another woman, and cannot divorce him no matter how bad their marriage is!

I was whoa, that not right at all.. No wonder that dude is all alone! XD

To clarify, other articles on this story also mention that she made comments about race and skin colour. The burning cars and defecating thing sounds like its just an excerpt from whatever her entire rant was. But she aimed it at some group specifically and the charge seems to pertain to that "incitement of racial hatred".
