I just canceled. This occurs far too often to pay monthly for. If people don't unsubscribe they have no motivation to fix it. Money talks. Hopefully if enough people hit them in the wallet they'll figure it out.

Thanks so much for emailing in. We understand how frustrating it can be not being able to watch your anime.

If you are on an app device:
On your device clear your cache and delete the app data before uninstalling and reinstalling the Crunchyroll app.

Let me know how this works for you!
Have a good one!

This is what they sent me. For two days i haven't been able to watch anything even as a premium member which i just resubscribed to. Guess i'll just cancel again.

Even if that does work... uninstalling and reinstalling an application constantly is an unacceptable solution. That's a canned response if I've ever seen one..

Maybe as a one off solution but one can't be asked to unplug their Xbox... sit for a minute and plug it back in to clear the cache.

These server/application errors are becoming far too common for that.

Really if you pay for a service it should be turn key. Install the app, enter your login, watch stuff. Like every other streaming service that offers an Xbox one app....

I just fixed mine after experiencing this error for the first time for about 30 minutes. Here's what I did:

(With the app completely closed)
1. Highlight the app.
2. Press the Menu button to bring up more options.
3. Select "Manage App"
4. Scroll down to "Saved Data" on the left hand side.
5. Select "Delete All"
6. Go back and relaunch the app and it will have a pop-up window saying "Syncing Data." For me, after about 10 seconds the app loaded like normal.

Hope this helps.

It cant hurt to try that, but really these errors are far too inconsistent. I would think if there was an issue with saved data the problem would be repeatable. The simple fact is that some days the app is fine and others various errors occur.

But it cant hurt to try.

My biggest beef is that Crunchy hasn't even come out and even said that there is a possibility of an issue and that they're going to try to investigate it. I mean there's a single sticky on this forum.. from 2013...

This forum is filled with people having these issues and all you get is canned responses from Crunchy support. They always reply with the same basic computer equivalent response of "Have you tried turning it off and on again." I mean I get it. I work in IT. I always tell people to reboot first, but really... at some point you need to admit there's a problem. At least somewhere. Either the Crunchy App itself, the back end, Xbox live.. something.

When ever other streaming service on the Xbox is working.. and Crunchy isnt. With the limited amount of troubleshooting really available on consoles where else can you lay the blame?

This appears to be an issue with Cruchyroll and Windows services not the app itself since the problem also occurs at the same time within the Windows app. This has gotten really bad over the last few weeks. This issue occurs pretty regally for me at around noon each day and right at about 8 pm each evening. Yes nearly every day at those times.

Xbox one and Windows App IPhone app works fine but it is using a different back end so the connection issue with between CR and MS somewhere.

Correction this is occurring across all my devices including my IPhone. This issue is occuring now as well.

This error has become a constant frustration for me, I'm a computer engineer and I've worked IT, CrunchyRoll should address their technical debt immediately.

Assuming crunchyroll is looking into this, I get this error when I choose the crunchyroll app and starting it up specifically for the first time after having had my console be shut off. Keep in mind too that I log into my Xbox live account first before starting the app. It appears to then try and load whatever was last shown in the app prior to me leaving it (despite having had the Xbox turned off before opening the app).

I suspect this error occurs because I didn't fully sign out of crunchyroll? Maybe a form of lockout? Because if I try to use my account on any device after the server error msg, I'll continue to get the message until about an hour or so passes. So my whole login is basically not usable for some time.

I'll continue to test but man is this one annoying.

It works on android phone OS, firefox, but not xbox one(when it says that stupid server error message). It kinda defeats the purpose if I can't watch a show on my home theater set up. This is really annoying. I've been a paying member since 2011, and a member since 2007. This is really aggravating. I'm tired of guided to use VRV. I just want to use my damn app.

Mine is now stuck with the same error message. First time I've ever seen it. Tried hard resetting the xbox, deleting cache and data, reinstalling app. Unplugged the whole console for a few mins. Nothing. Even cleared some stuff from my queue. I really just wanted to watch some anime in bed for a few hours after a long day.

I started experiencing this issue on all my devices connected to my home router (iphone, xbox one, ps3, android tablet, PC app).

I changed the router's DNS server to point to google's DNS instead of Verizon's DNS.

Problem immediately resolved itself. Add changing the DNS servers to the pile of troubleshooting steps.

It's ridiculous that these problems have persisted for so long.

This should have been resolved a long time ago. If I can't use my Xbox to watch CR, then I'm not going to continue giving them my money.
I cancelled my subscription and encourage others who experience these unnecessary headaches to do the same.
