Sooo, they're trying to say the anime is too successful? It would become more popular than the paper and thus ruin the tree killing, ink guzzling book industry? From the author's perspective I can understand that having the anime be the face of the franchise can put him in a really weak spot, even become a mere puppet to the point where they start forcing him to milk the series for more money. Still, couldn't the author just ask for a bigger cut of the $$ and be happy? Or find another publisher. I'm under the assumption that the author takes a much bigger cut of the income from the paper versions over the pricy animation industry. One thing is for sure, everyone loves the cast they managed to assemble for the anime. Would be a shame to see them go.

Japan needs a better way of sharing the revenue from anime, from my understanding the original author doesn't really make anything from it, not sure what the publishers cut is.

Guys are flipping out.

1. It was a thank you note to the animators which could also indicate

Just a thank you or next season will have new animators or it's over.

If it is over that doesn't mean it's for good if you have checked out the news konosuba is getting a visual novel.
The writer is most likely busy with that which would leave no time to watch over the development of season 3

It's likely season 3 is still to come.

Plus it was never confirmed only assumed

how many light novel volumes did the two seasons of the anime cover so far? and how many LN volumes haven't been covered by the anime yet? just curious, Konosuba was a favorite of mine over the last year so i might read the LN

I think you're misunderstanding something.

There won't be a season 3 of the anime in the near future because the novels are already selling very well, to the point that making a third season will not increase novel sales by much. It doesn't have anything to do with what cut the author gets, its a decision made by Kadokawa. And trying to switch publisher when your book is doing so well under the current publisher is a very bad idea.

Most 12 episode anime seasons have 3 or 4 arcs with each arc being one volume of the light novel, but that's assuming they follow the light novel.

Konosuba was 10 episodes per season and didn't seem to have defined arcs like most light novel based anime. I was actually surprised when I found out that it was based on a light novel series and not a manga.

I think the main issue is the publisher can't count to 3 (sounds like Valve) ! They never seem to want to have a 3rd season on any of their shows that I can see .

4 volumes, a rate of 2 per season. There are 11 total at this moment. More than enough for 3 more seasons right now.
