Hey,

I never post, but recently watched Toradora, and I'm left a bit heartbroken. (50 episodes, half where dubs. Crushed)

Finished the season and was really impressed by the pacing, the narrative and the characters and the complex emotions and contradictions that followed. It has those crushing moments and realisations that Your Lie in April has, even with the I guess, childlish/young teen backdrop.

Looking for recommendations to fill the void in the meantime, anime or manga.

I like human emotions from different perspectives, underdog stories, complex and engaging narratives, sensible ( sensical, if this is a word) plots/twists. But I also do like silly stuff with humour, with interesting characters like Konosuba, and the devil is a part timer. Also like things like Inside Mari, Boku no hero acadamia, death note, my little monster, Is it wrong to pick up girls.. and the second half of Shaman King (manga) which was beautiful.

Recommendations would be very appreciated!

School days, if you haven't watched it try it out, it's got mystery, intrigue, romance. It's only 12 episodes tho.

pet girl of sakurasou

my romantic comedy snafu

Chihayafuru

Usagi Drop

Kids on the Slope

-- Most of these left me with that really empty feeling. Wanting more, knowing that their lives continue on but I can't watch.

LOL. That's such a mean recommendation. To be honest, I'm not even sure if you're being sarcastic or not. It starts out sort of similar to Tora Dora, but it goes WAY off the rails, like a literal trainwreck. It almost needs to be watched though just for the sheer kookiness of it all.

It's a legit recommendation, I think everyone who watches anime should watch it at least one.

No sarcasm by me if that's what you mean? But yeah I'll check it out, if it's a more adult approach to the dialogue and narrative i'll probably really enjoy it. Danke

Well, Toradora it's kind of it's own, great thing so I'm not sure about anything very similar, but as above, I was also about to say Clannad and Clannad after story, if you are looking for emotional high-school/coming of age romance with combination of comedy and drama.

Well, that I can agree with at least. But if he goes in expecting Tora Dora quality he's going to be sadly disappointed. It's more of a "what the hell did I just watch?" kind of a show than a good one.

haha, well i'm not too concerned with it being close to Toradora. I'm not really into my high school drama-y kind of shows. Just ones that captivate a little like toradora are good because they catch me off guard. Looking for something thought provoking, and emotional. Not necessarily the same thing. But i've jotted down all the recommendations cheers
