I hate it when people make automatic judgements based on the bias of "I've never done that." or "That's not how we do it so it must be either evil or stupid." I live in the southern part of the United States so I hear a lot of that. People here are biased against anyone who is homosexual, non-christian, foreign, otaku etc. I am not homosexual or foreign so I'm not really thought of as weird by people here but I see other people who are persecuted. Homosexuals are not allowed to marry in any of the southern states because the bias of the majority of the people here exceeds their rationale. They automatically assume that their beliefs are obviously more important than other people's beliefs. I'm from western Kentucky and just recently, the town of Mayfield (which is near my house) voted to not grant some muslims the right to build a mosque in the town. My grandfather is a baptist preacher and he always talks about how the government should bury pigs in plots of land for sale so that the muslims won't buy it (pigs are unholy in Islam and ground with dead pigs is considered unclean). This is ridiculous. A fraction of a percentage of muslims are terrorists yet these people assume that because a few are terrorists, the other 1.6 BILLION muslims must be terrorists too. That is highly illogical because if it were true, there would be no America left. We would have been overrun by islamic radicals by now. It is because of conservative radicals like the people on the town council of Mayfield that world peace has not been achieved. It is because of these people that American's can't marry whoever they want. I cannot say there is no bias in what I am writing because that would be a lie. I will say that I've considered and researched the point of view of the people I've criticized in this rant. Please help eliminate the "My way is better" bias.
