As for why would you convert data that isn't there is beyond me

just one of many 60fps anime comparison
watch it at 720p 60fps. the jaggedness can be seen (and is quite obvious to me) in 0:14, 0:40, 0:52, 1:12...well you get the idea.
it'd be great if CR offered 60fps (by converting the 24fps to 60fps). not going to happen anytime soon though.

edit: correction:
you can apparently watch series in CR in 60fps using mpv. of course, you'll need a premium account to make it work.

I am going to get my 43", 4K, IPS TV today and wondered how CR will work on it.

Does anyone watch anime on a larger screen who can tell me if it will still look crisp?

What size were you previously watching on? I watch on a 32" and I can see the compression artifacts...

My dad has a 4k tv that I wanna say is 60-something inches, I don't remember the exact details.

More importantly, I get to watch anime on it occasionally. (rare though sometimes) The television doesn't seem to show any particular improvement in picture quality streaming Crunchyroll or using blu-rays compared to my 1920x1080 monitor. Oh but as a side note it is much brighter on the tv as some others have stated.

Lastly as far as I know the only native 4k anime is Mobile Suit Gundam Thunderbolt: December Sky's blu-ray though I won't claim to be an expert on the matter.

There is another factor at play: How close one is sitting to the screen. A lot of people still sit too far from their screen. They will buy a 55" 4K screen, and then sit 10 feet away from it.

Has anyone watched December Sky in 4K? In a side-by-side comparison, the UHD benefits are completely lost on typical anime. Wondering if it's worth buying the movie just to watch it on that screen.

I believe NetFlix has one anime in 4k with Dolby Vision HDR but it is computer generated. It is called Blame!. They are also releasing Castlevania soon which hopefully will be in 4k Dolby vision as well. That said I have a 65b6 oled tv and the colors are more impressive than resolution in anime. If you need a quick comparison play the last episode of One Punch man on an iPhone vs Samsung Galaxy S7 or S8.

While the benefit of 4K to anime would be questionable (especially given the costs for additional detail in 2D animation), HDR might be another matter.
