My patience is wearing thin. At first, I was all like "it's only a couple of shitheads, just send in a good military unit and nip it in the bud." Then I was like "I think we need to hostile takeover the entire region and force them to culturally assimilate into a proper nice first world region." I'll give it 2 more year's before I am perfectly fine with nothing short of genocide.

To all Muslims. If anyone in your family is acting like a shithead radical, please do your entire community a favor and chew them out for being an asshat. As it is, there is a dangerously large chunk of people who view you as little more then cavemen with violent tenancies. I'm almost at that point myself...

Sounds pretty chaotic over there. To be honest, when I saw the headline I thought it was just a continuation of the drug thing. I had no idea realize the Philippines were having so much trouble with extremists. Did this hit everyone out of left field, or is this more of an ongoing issue for them?

From what I understand there is a sizeable Muslim population in the southern part of the country that lives pretty modernly. Not sure why it was chosen as the target but probably radicals that live close to or in the Philippines have been planning this for months.

I am not sure a military takeover would be that simple, or effective. Many of the issues stemming from regional violence seems to be past colonialism and the reassertion of radical nationalistic elements, up to and including racial superiority and such. Trying to socially engineer a specific social trend is hard enough in the US, imagine trying to do that to the extremism of another region.

I understand your concern, but genocide or the actions that would irrevocably precipitate such just makes us as worst as them, and I am not exaggerating, since that is my sincere belief, and will likely be not effective. You cannot kill such a subversive thing as an idea or ideology.

First Kim Jong Un, now Duterte? What is it with you and fawning over the worst leaders in the world?

I agree that Duterte is probably making a reasonable choice in this case, but that doesn't make him any less of a shithead.

I dont understand why people always say this when there are i belive 108 or maybe 109? verses in the Quran about killing the infidels. If not killing, to not befriend or to decieve/lie to them. etc

Trolling, most likely.

I do not know, Duterte does not have a great track record, but the situation does seem serious enough, with Manchester paling in comparison if the news is to be believed.

I would blame him if he was not doing anything, but I would not say he is a good guy, just one acting out of self preservation and to an extent country. Does not mean Duterte lacks the right to defend the country under his leadership, or to enforce common sense laws.

Then go learn phillipino and read what's going on so you can be Opisstillfaggot instead of just reading Opisfaggot's summary

Not saying it doesn't, but you have to admit it's funny to see Rujikin, who complains constantly about news sources being skewered even when the story in the discussuion isn't skewered at all, using 4chan as a legit source (because if there's anything we know about the 4chan community its how fair and bipartisan it is) especially a poster with a pretty troll-ish username.

I am not all that bothered. It is still happening, and people often livestream or text about events happening in their area, the only problem being that the residents often do not know adequate English.

I would be skeptical, but I think it would also be understandable that official news sources would likely not take the inherent nature of internet posted accounts seriously, whereas the internet is a bit more lenient with its rule, and thus, quicker.

It may just be a translation, though I considered its validity considering that it is beyond detailed, and with current knowledge, likely to be considered truthful but not completely accurate.

That being said, having a username at all seems to indicate more validity, as one does not need an account to even post, with the default username being "Anonymous", hence the origins of said name for the hackitivist group. It is completely voluntary.
