I hardly ever notice the CR watermark in the corner. The fifteen second "Exclusive stream" banner at the top of every video, however, is absolutely ludicrous. It looked cool the first time I saw it. Now it's just obnoxious, and a watermark that lasts just fifteen seconds is not going to stop anyone from recording content anyway.

This is what is ABSOLUTELY ludicrous: when you're not logged in, you can watch 480p CR videos with adblock so you don't see any ads, and you don't get a stupidly conspicuous watermark at the start of every video. But sign on with a premium account, and 480p gets watermarked. WTF??? Seriously, why the hell is that a thing? You should NEVER be paying for a worse product than what you can get for FREE! Period.

If the "Exclusive stream" banner watermark lasted the entire bloody video every single time, you'd be pissed, even if you think you like seeing that watermark right now. I'm definitely going to look at other streaming sites before I'd consider paying for a service that ADDS a watermark for premium members. That makes absolutely no sense; if free users can watch 480p videos without a watermark, premium members should NOT have to see a useless extra watermark.

tl;dr: paying users need an option to remove the ridiculous banner watermark at the start of every video AT LEAST ON 480p QUALITY, THE SAME AS YOU GET AS A FREE USER! (and SD because why the bloody hell not)

The burn is real

I think there´s kind of a divide on crunchy regarding the watermark. Some thinks it´s a good thing and others don´t. Maybe they could add a turn off button in the settings or something :/

It's added as an anti-piracy measure, not to "look cool." I don't believe that VRV.co adds the same banner, so it may not be a included whenever the new CR infrastructure launches.

and we can confidently say that, along with flash, it put a stop to pirates seeding CR releases on the web

premium users are entitled to the best possible stream quality with no banner, cheese, tomato, stamps or whatever thrown in the screen. they paid for the privilege of watching it. that's how i see it, anyways. some services like Amazon will even let you watch it offline, in the highest possible quality with nothing thrown in the screen. they know you paid to watch the movie, and they (Amazon) respect your prime membership. thankfully for Crunchyroll, many users don't seem to mind the quality issues. heck, it actually took a pirate to make people realize the blatant quality issues in Rewrite before other premium users started to complain, and some of the paid users still claimed not to care about the lower quality (which they later claim was not intentional)

I didn't say it was effective, just that that would be the reasoning it was added, to track any users that captured the video and uploaded it elsewhere.

CR plans to add offline playback sometime later this year: https://www.polygon.com/2017/5/4/15542054/amazon-anime-strike-crunchyroll

ah, thanks for this. if they can bring this feature, it would save people headache from lag / buffer.
(and people would finally be able to watch on the go, without fear of overage charges)

they could do it like Amazon:
let people download the series to their smartphones / tablets through their own app, and have a count-down timer.
in Amazon's case, they let you watch the series offline for 48 hours or so (after starting playback) before you need to connect online (so the DRM validates your membership and lets you watch the series you downloaded)
Amazon also lets you choose the download quality, so people running low on space can pick a lower quality.

-scratches head- have you consider getting Gaming PC? I'm at 1080p, and it going smoothly. I rarely do encounter major lag on this site at peak hours.. Now that is annoy... But I really shouldn't be complaining when I noticed others got it worse than I do! XD

I'm curious What kind of Computer do you have? I mean how much Ram, Graphic Card Video Ram, Operating System, Browser? It sounded like you got very low Ram or outdated window version?

I remembered few years ago I only have 4mb of video ram, 2GB of hard drive, 32mb of Ram.. and Video Ram are the reason for only 320/480.. But that was way before I came to this site.. and I do remembered that my window media player alway Crash! XD
