I have always been interested in art, as was my sister. She went the traditional path and I chose the digital path. I always wanted to bring my imagination to life, as so many do, but couldn't find the right media for it.
I'm currently in the middle of a Game Art Design degree that involves 3D modelling (which I found to be the right media for me!) Now the goal is to be a jack of all trades in modelling, so general assets, clothing, characters, environments etc., with the end goal to be hired by a studio or do commissions.

One of the things that keeps me going is actually my love for figures. I want to be able to sculpt some characters I love that haven't been given the chance of being brought to life as a dynamically posed figure.

What about you guys? ^_^

**Edit** I'm wanting serious answers. Please don't make this thread into the stupid brainless garbage the forums are already filled to the brim with.

Really I'm aiming pretty high in life. I'm currently studying a masters in law at the University of Chicago (go maroons!). My aim is to eventually work my way into the political system with one sole intention: to legalize marriage to my waifu, hestia. Currently everybody looking to marry their waifu is a basement dweller, and I aim to change the stigma attached to people with waifus. I believe that if people of the same sex can marry, I should be allowed to marry m two dimensional waifu.

Well, I agreed my original response was upsetting the OP, and should be removed, but my second response was perfectly legitimate in the question the thread has asked, was it not? Did I say something wrong?

In any case, I aspire to study to be a engineer in robotics by majoring in Mechanical, among other things.

I would like to promote tolerance in general discussion, as well as think out my personal principles. Not sure how I am doing on that front.

Well it is PV.....

As far as serious goals and aspirations, it would be to save as much money I can this year and move to a different city. Probably Austin or St. Louis. Then get a job there doing the same thing I am currently doing but just in a new location. Love the job, not the town. Once I move, I will hopefully get a studio apartment for myself instead of having roommates like I currently do. From there, just live my life making money and paying rent.

English, motherf***, do you speak it?

Right now, my goal is to pass the TOEFL with a great score, that's why I've been studying English a lot lately.

That's more technical than artistic, really. What a studio values isn't so much your art, as your ability to make the tradeoff between processing time and display quality. There is no shortage of artists who can make amazing, incredible models with thousands of polys. Making a giant's forearm look properly muscular and defined in twelve quads, on the other hand, will get you a job.

3D printers. Get you some. Design and build some custom figures. I can tell you more about this if you like, but seriously, you can figure it out. 3D print your protoypes from high-quality models, clean them up and do your final fit and finish, then you can low-batch heat mold them until you have enough volume to contact a Chinese partner and get full-on injection molded parts. There's no reason you can't offer this as a service to small indie comic artists, either - do a 30% profit split, they'll be happy. You get to use their IP, they get to sell real action figures like they used to play with as a kid, everybody wins.

What about you guys? ^_^

I'm currently a performance and success coach, which means that advice I just gave you is something I'd usually be paid a lot of money for. ;)

The thing is, it's the same advice over and over. Even what I just gave you is basically the same thing I do with everyone who is whinging at me (not that you're whinging, but other people do) about how they have worked really hard to develop a particular set of skills and get a degree... but nobody will hire them, because the skills they've developed aren't actually the skills people usually want in a new hire.

And it's frustrating as hell, because I will tell people "here are the skills to focus on so you can get a job," and then I tell them "here are the things you can do to make ends meet with the skills you currently have," and then the next time I talk to them they are working at some bullshit minimum wage crap whinging about how the system is rigged.

Are you working on those skills? "No." Are you using the skills you have? "No." Then why the fuck are you surprised? Also, why did you pay me to tell you what to do if you weren't going to do it?

Most people I know say "but you get paid, man, you just talk on the phone and get paid."

Except that's not what I want. I want to help people. I want to talk to people who do what I tell them and get what they want and become happy. I don't want to talk to people who flop on the ground and don't do shit and turn into broken, depressed losers. You can't pay me enough money to make that worth it. I hate this shit. I do as little of it as possible.

So what I'm working on is a definitive video course that I can put up on the internet and people will go through it all by themselves without my direct involvement. They will pay their money and go through the course and I don't have to talk to them, so I don't care if they're losers and fail. Then I can charge a lot less money, more than making it up in volume, and start actually helping people. And most people who really need this kind of help can't throw a couple thousand dollars at the problem in the first place.

I'm probably still another year or two out from the finished project. There's a lot of work.
