I thought I heard instant ramen was invented in Japan.

Check out this lady crying over a confederate flag she just looses it.

The crying seems to be from having two dudes come out to the parking lot after her. Doesn't seem to have anything to do with the confederate flag. And for the record, said two dudes were employees and they have been suspended for this.

Turns out calling someone a bitch and telling her to fuck off then following her into the parking lot isn't acceptable in customer service. =p

It's... complicated. A Japanese man did figure out how to make 'instant' ramen as a cheap snack for college kids. If I recall correctly, drying the noodles wasn't the problem, it was making the process cheaper than going out to get fresh noodles.

So it's not so much 'inventing', if you can even go so far as to call it that, as 'developing a cost-effective method'. Desperation is the mother of invention, after all.

That being said, most of the ramen eaten in the United States probably comes out of California. I've been to the... factory, I believe.

Liberals are butthurt that someone "culturally appropriated" some recipes from Mexico to start a business. They got enraged because someone brought recipes up to Portland from Mexico. Why would anyone care about this when it's been done for 2 centuries prior to this and most of what we eat are from other cultures. If anyone cares and wants to post than you better be "white" and not just "white" but Celtic "white" plus have a college degree or else you are appropriating my people's culture by using the internet.

Could all non-whites please stop using electricity (AC&DC, please), Western harmony, the scientific method, antibiotics, universities, blue jeans, the assembly line, and modern medicine. I'm tired of my culture being appropriated. :P

Wtf is western harmony

Taco Bell is more authentic than authentic Mexican food. Everyone agrees.

The perpetually offended in constant pursuit of things to complain about. Did America have permission to appropriate the English language from Britain?

This shit just keeps getting worse. Now the ever sensitive left has decided to attack the very thing that gives America it's identity... stealing other peoples ideas and pretending they are our own :P.

But no seriously part of what makes America unique is just how readily we'll assimilate other things into our culture which is why America is often compared to a melting pot or salad. Not that other countries don't have mexican restaurants and stuff but America is just more known for this kind of thing.

But now they want to act like cultures are copyrighted!?! It's not even that we need permission because even if we "get permission" to "appropriate" a culture the left will just choose to not believe it, assume they were forced to say yes, or claim that's not the point and simply the act of appropriation is immoral.

I used to side with the left. I really did. But .... my god even if I don't always agree with the right and even if I don't like Trump anything is better than this crap. You'd think they want whites to just secede from the world given how much they seem to freak out these days when we get involved in ANYTHING!!!!!!!!!!!!

According to Hawaiians, the local Japanese claim the Chinese invented it. The local Chinese claim the Japanese created it. But at the end of the day, they are culturally connected by their love of ramen. And Terry chicken. And Chicken Katsu. And Tako Poki. and just the unique blend of asian, pacific islander and american food all into 1 island.

I wrote a small little article on the only diversity I truly appreciate, and the horror that is monotone food culture, jokingly called by me as Bland White. Where the only food that is editable comes from family dinners and normal supermarkets. The only acceptable spice is salt. The only condiment ketchup. And steak is what's for dinner.

"Fake" ethnic food is the worst once you know what real traditional food of that culture is really like.

You want REAL cultural appropriation?!? Try blowing 9 bucks at a forgettable Hawaiian themed hole in the wall burger grill on a mushroom burger, called a Hula Mushroom burger of all things. (it was a good mushroom burger, don't get me wrong) Then later on in life, find a hidden in plain sight small Korean grill, eating katsu chicken for the first time, and realizing that one of your past memories was a scam! Glad that 'Hawaiian' restaurant disappeared, it was a slap to the face of places that served real Hawaiian food. That's the funny thing, Hawaiian food isn't Hawaiian, most of it is cultural fusion of Asian, true Hawaiian with modernize tech (like roasting pork in an oven instead of a big hole in the beach) and standard American food, which in of itself also culturally assimilated many versions of other culture's foods. Katsu chicken is basically just KFC, but with no bones, a different breading, and you smash it tender before breading and frying. They got Loco Moco, which is literally a bowl of rice with a hamburger patty, over easy egg and gravy. They even have SPAM SUSHI!

I'm very glad my town has gotten better about food diversity since when I was a wee elementary schooler. Trying new foods is one of the great wonders of life in the modern era, and should be celebrated.

Now that my ramble is aside, what they did isn't cultural appropriation. They didn't make a stupid cheeseburger with bell peppers and call it a Fiesta Burger. Or a corndog with salsa and call it mexican food. (fuck, now I'm craving a hotdog with lengua, salsa, and tons of cheese. lengua fyi is cow tongue.) They still put in a decent effort to represent the food they are making, and I'm pretty sure the food would of tasted yummy. But now it's not going to be a thing. FUCK, I'm close to Portland, and my brother is over there. Would of been a perfect excuse to see him. (even if he hates Mexican food.)
