I remember back in the day when Crunchyroll was diligent in updating their release calendars. We could see if our favorite anime(s) was still airing. Now it seems like you never know what they are going to update (other than the wanna be SourceFed reviews).

Side note.. the review videos are starting to degrade. Its like watching an advertisement for hair products.

I'm assuming you don't mean this.

They also will have on the side of videos when the next episode is due to be released. Not sure if any of that is helpful, I apologize if it's not.

Yeah, the main page has the "look-ahead" info on the right:

But the calendar doesn't display this information at all:

All of those are free episodes (last week's premium episodes, note the missing crown icon) so they wouldn't show up in the release calendar when you have it set to "show premium episodes".

Lately CR hasn't been putting up the episode placeholders for new premium episodes ahead of time like they used to do. I still have some hope that this is somehow related to not accidently "leaking" as of yet unannounced shows, like say Hakata Tonkotsu Ramens which hasn't been formally announced yet and will pick back up once the license announcements are over.

edit: Oh look, there's the announcement for Hakata Tonkotsu Ramens, figures that's the example I'd pick.

I thought the whole point of this thread was that "CR hasn't been putting up the episode placeholders for new premium episodes ahead of time like they used to do" - as you yourself stated....

We're all wondering why - and if they'll put them back. I mean, what is the point of even having the calendar if it only shows you what you've already seen? Not to mention that - as I noted - the information is, in fact, available on the main page in the sidebar. So what would be the point of not populating the calendar? Spoilers? Because they're already on the main page....

You seem to be mistaken about what episodes the sidebar actually shows you.

Lately what is on the main page, under the "Coming soon" section, is only free episodes except for the premium episodes that already aired that day under the "Now Showing" header.
New premium episodes that have not aired yet are not, in fact, visible on the sidebar.
Likely because the sidebar pulls the information from the release calendar and if new premium episodes are not put in there ahead of time it will only show the upcoming free episodes.

Just go to the release calendar, flip the switch to free episodes and watch how it suddenly shows the same upcoming shows as the sidebar.
While this generally works as a way of telling when new premium episodes will become available it doesn't account for weeks where a series does not get a new episode (or simply has ended the week before).

I'm pretty sure we can all agree that we'd be happy if CR would go back to populating the release calendar with new premium episodes ahead of time, I only commented because you seemed to believe that the sidebar still showed upcoming premium episodes or didn't notice the option to switch the release calendra to new free episodes.
