Anime suggestion: Love, Chunibyo, & Other Delusions

Why?: To me this was a charming series to watch. It follows a protagonist who during middle school went by the alias "Dark Flame Master" and was essentially role playing this "epic" character at all times. About to start High school where appearances matter, he wants a fresh start and to rid of this embarrassing past. However, his upstairs neighbor turns out to have had a similar past, embodying a different "epic" persona. The difference being, she stills acts in that character.

It's charming because, A its actually quite funny, and B there are some genuinely touching themes throughout the plot as it develops. Insofar as there is a "love interest payoff", it is minor but very appropriate and cute. It also has some sweet "battles" throughout but I won't get into those as it might spoil some of the show. This is definitely one I recommend to those looking for a good laugh coupled with some humbling themes and there are two seasons of it!

PS: The second season has the same title but with "- Heart Throb" at the end.

Anime Suggetion: White Album 2

Why?: If you are looking for a slice of life that will give you a full blown punch to your emotions and feels, well look no further than White Album 2. The basic premise is 3 students come together to re-band the Light Music Club, and their goal is to prepare a 3 song set list in a very short time. The emotional destroying aspect comes after they perform their festival show, as we see the characters struggling to come to terms with their emotions for one another. The 3 of them want to remain friends forever, as they have a blast working together, but as you come to see it isn't that easy. I think the best way I would describe it is that, it is a very real anime. No miracle, happy endings here.

This is only a 13 episode run, and apparently was made to promote a visual novel of the same name. I mention that because, you won't exactly find a happy ending here. No spoilers, but this isn't the typical love triangle where 2 of the 3 are happy and that extra finds happiness elsewhere. I could be wrong, but I believe the intention of the anime was to get people hooked on the story, and by golly does that happen when you finish the season and just sit there wondering how to process what you saw. I highly recommend this is you are in the mood for some strong emotions.
