Post Reply Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy

This game annoyed me so much that I ended up breaking out my PSOne (the micro Playstation) and playing the first game over again. The "NSane Trilogy" is ridden with input lag and nonsensical hitboxes. When compared to the original Crash Bandicoot on PSX, these games feel like they were designed and coded by someone who had never played the originals (although the levels are nearly the same, the underlying tech is abhorrently detestable).

I'm really enjoying the game but it's a lot harder than I remember, I'm really struggling on some of these stages.

No kidding. I just cleared it yesterday and my god, what a pain in the ass. I guess it took me about 30-50 attempts to get gem. The part where it really starts to gets hard and annoying is where you climb up. But once you get past the part where Cortex bonus is, you're on top of the world.

The good news? You CAN fail the bonus stages, that doesn't count. As long as you don't fail the level itself, you're set. Believe me, i've tested it. Same goes to those hog-riding levels.

Oh, and the hardest part is just up ahead.

I already have all the old ones, and honestly I don't think it'd be worth the money to get what's basically a graphics upgrade and the option to play as Cocoa (though that option is appreciated). I'd rather they'd simply released an all new Crash Bandicoot game that built upon what made the old ones so great. Nevertheless, I'm glad so many people are happy with it.

Forgot all about that level..... And yes it's nice that you can retry the bonus stages as many time as want. You fail once in the original, restart the goddamn level...

*Importan Note!* People have asking about how to get gems in Crash Bandicoot Remastered. To make it perfectly clear, here's how it works:

- If it's not a colored gem, you are free to fail as many times as possible. This includes the bonus stages, too. I discovered this while playing The High Road.
- If it's a colored gem, you MUST clear the level perfectly, from start to finish. You CAN however, fail at the bonus levels. That doesn't count.

Levels with colored gem:

Green: The Lost City
Orange: Generator Room
Blue: Toxic Waste
Red: Slippery Climb
Purple: Lights Out
Yellow: The Lab

Hopefully this helps. Anyone who i have given incorrect information, apologies.

I wonder if the remastered version still allows you to break 100% completion?

according to Digital Foundry, the game played just fine. I think it's the US version of the game that is the problem.

i heard there are input lag and other problems with the NA region copy of the game. I think a patch is on the way.

this is the common problem with early adopters/buyers. The game is only 30fps. It's not Horizon Zero Dawn, so why can't it be 60fps ?

I take it back, High Road is the absolute worst. I don't know if it's just me or reaction time is not as good as it used to be but those f**king turtles don't give me enough jump to reach the next platforms. Costed me 45 lives....

Good to see that my family is not the only group of gamers having difficulty here. Granted, the originals were never exactly easy, but these versions are definitely harder.

Originally, i had to post something else. But then i found out that DLC for Crash Bandicoot is out. Yes, it's free and no space required. I knew it was going to be that because of the... trophy images? Yes.

So ladies and gentleman, here it is: unused/removed level, Stormy Ascent. If you thought Slippery Climb was hard, no. This is harder. However, one thing that makes it slighty easier is that it has three checkpoints, while SC has one. And since it's N. Sane Trilogy, no need to do perfect run for the gem. You CAN die if that so happens. It even has Brio stage and is that fun yet tricky. Did they really plan to put that in the original? That would've been hardcore. Finally, the best tip i've seen: "Good luck! (You're going to need it.)"

The time trial however, is a nightmare. There are some many sections where you're likely to mess up at least once. The parts that gave me trouble:

- The first scientist, it seems that he starts throwing once you get close enough. That's stupid as in the original, he throws when you start the level.

- After the second scientist, the part with multiple moving platforms. The only way to get past this without having to wait is to do the previous parts quickly as possible. Done correctly, good. Delayed a bit, wait about three moving back and forth times and it's possible. That's how i did it.

- The part where you descend. The last set of stairs moves so quickly that it's just barely possible to make it without taking damage/dying. The only way to get past this safely is to jump to the last stair once it's about to rise. Jump from any other spot and you hit the spikes.

The High Road was the hardest time trial to do but this one is harder. It took me about two hours to get the gold relic. Thank God you don't have to get the platinum for the trophy, as that IS hard. Platinum time: 3:10:something, i recall it was that. My time: 4:07:68.

Well, that's about it. I still have something to post which i'll do in a few days.
