It's times like this that I feel ashamed to be a Texan. However, let it be known that not all Texans agree with this (I certainly don't), and while there are certainly plenty of bigots in Texas, there are a lot open-minded people too (we just haven't gotten control of Texas yet. But maybe one day we will).

So they don't want abortions because there are "billions" of people out there that would be thrilled to adopt all the children, and foster homes are always a paradise. Yet, they don't want people to adopt the children either. Make up your minds.

It is rather unfortunate to hear that such a bill has been approved by the Texas senate. I object against the notion that publicly funded institutions should be allowed to discriminate based on religion. As many have stated in this thread, children in foster care already have a very difficult time finding a home with loving parents. This is bound to make it somewhat worse -- I do not know to what extent, but we will see.

I love how people just throw the word "homophobic" around. I'm not afraid of gay people, I just don't agree with it.

When the suffix "phobia" (or "phobic") is used in that context, it often indicates a dislike or feeling of disdain directed at homosexual individuals or the concept of homosexuality.

Definition of phobia:

"a persistent, irrational fear of a specific object, activity, or situation that leads to a compelling desire to avoid it."

"An extreme or irrational fear of or aversion to something."

I've edited several posts and deleted a couple. If your posts were edited or deleted you will be receiving a PM from me regarding it some time today. The key point I want to make is that when you disagree with someone it's fine to argue against what they say and the opinion they express, but it should be done without personally attacking them or making disparaging side comments and accusations regarding them. Dismissive, angry remarks like "Fuck off" should also be avoided. Please make your points without resorting to that sort of tone.

If someone does direct such remarks against you, please do not reply in kind. Either ignore those parts of their remarks, or report them.
