I'm pretty good at taking care of my headphones/ear buds. That is, assuming I keep them away from my cats...

Audiophile life, son. Can go upwards of $2000 if you really wanted to. The really expensive part is the dacs, amps, preamps, usb and power filters, custom braided cables etc... yet we still do it!

Google Hifiman HE1000 then Focal Utopia and then, once you've recovered from the shock... Sennheiser Orpheus. I'll go get the paramedics now cause we'll probably need them.

*drools at the thought of Sennheiser Orpheus...*

I'd be lying if I said I never thought about getting a pair when they came out - but, now that I'm in a relationship, it won't necessarily be an easy sell (especially since we're thinking about buying a house sometime soon).

As he said, it's the audiophile's life. If you look at all of my stuff (preamp, amp, DAC, record player, stereo system, and headphone collection), I can easily say it's worth (at retail value) over $15,000. I have a full Schiit config (Mjolnir 2, Yggdrasil, Wyrd, and Freya -- which is about $4,800). That's why you have daily drivers that come with you on trips and then you have headphones that never come out unless you're going to sit and listen to music for 3-7 hours just to chill.

Spoiler: Those Senn Orpheus headphones are around $50,000 on their own.... now that is a fainting-level of cost.

High five for the Schiit stack's bigger brother.

Yeah, the Magni/Modi stack is pretty amazing. I upgraded and gave the stack to a friend. It's a great combo, tbh.

I don't use headphones. Regular headphones aren't much good for me because I am deaf in one ear. And finding monaural headphones is an absolute pain. My old phone had a setting where I could change the output to monaural, but my current phone does not.

I keep my computer speakers both on the same side of my desk, and I don't care about 7.1 surround sound, because it is useless to me.

I've always used expensive headphones and with good durability, so to be honest, I'm not bad with headphones, just had some luck I guess

I have a pair of Sennheiser Momentums that I adore and would pretty much die if I ruined, but I've never really broken a pair of headphones. I hate earbuds though--they don't stay in and they just make my ears hurt. Over-the-ear headphones have much nicer sound quality anyway.
I can't imagine listening to music at such a high volume that it literally would break headphones! Ouch.

I always take good care of my headphones. I've had my current pair for years and they still work fine. No sound problems at all.
