The staff of Kyoto Animation's Sound! Euphonium franchise announced at the "Hibike! Eupohnium 2 Special Talk Event 1- 2-nensei Gōdō! Uji de Omatsuri Festival!" event in Uji, Kyoto on Sunday that the franchise will get two all-new films next year. One of the films will tell a new story of Nozomi Kasaki and Mizore Yoroizuka, and the other film will tell the story of Kumiko Ōmae and others as second-year students.

Naoko Yamada (K-ON!, A Silent Voice) is directing the film about Nozomi and Mizore. Tatsuya Ishihara (both seasons of Sound! Euphonium) is directing the movie about Kumiko as a second-year student.

Eh, they've already done pretty well at screwing up the heart of the story to this point so I can't really say I'm all that excited for them to muck it up even further. I know I'll at least end up following it because I guess I'm just that sort of glutton for punishment but I don't know if I'll actually watch it.

Fantastic! I'm really glad that they're not recap movies. Not particularly interested in Nozomi and Mizore's movie, but other characters could make cameos. Very much looking forward to Kumiko's movie; which will hopefully feature a lot of Sapphire and Hazuki.

So excited to find out that there will be not one but TWO whole new feature films with completely new material... we ran out of content from the novels right?

I pray that we in the West get to watch these films without waiting years after the Japanese release, but I'm not holding my breath due to the show's rather niche appeal. I would be squealing with joy if I got to see it in limited release in a theater. Regardless there are always back channels to use.
