Damn, I'm sorry to hear that.

Sorry if this thread brought up sore memories.

I was buying gas at a rural gas station / feed store after photographing a BNSF freight train at MP 216 on the old Willow Springs Sub. The owner was at his usual place behind the counter by the front window and he had his little TV on. It was broadcasting a live feed from NYC. This was after the 1st plane hit. After viewing that I went back out and filled the tank figuring the price of gas is about to go to the moon so get it while it's still reasonable. I then drove home and watched the horror unfold on TV.

I was at the dentist office. As my mom and I were leaving she asked what movie was playing on the tv. A man answered and told her it was real. We were both surprised and scared. Most of our family lives in NYC. My uncle even use to walked through that area every day to go to work! But on that day he didn't- thank all that is good!

I was a sophomore and walking into my high school when I saw a bunch of school faculty around a television. I came up to see what everyone was looking at and I remember just seen one of the towers with smoke coming out of it.

I was sleeping when the attack hit, but awoke in time to catch what was going on and see the towers collapse. Such an unforgettable day; really the definition moment of our entire generation.

I don't know, I was in the middle of a long drive when it happened, so I didn't find out until a few hours later. best I can figure I was somewhere around Memphis, TN. didn't find out about it 'til around noon when I stopped at a waffle house for lunch.

Early morning during middle school, everyone in my grade was told to move to the woodshop classrooms to catch the news coverage on the televisions. Being the exceptionally blissfully ignorant kid I was, it took me a good while to finally grasp what was going on. (The asshole kids next to me making Taliban jokes didn't help either.)

For the record, we were in New York but far enough away upstate. Still didn't make it any less difficult for us with family there, though.

Oddly enough, I was in Frankfurt myself. By the time I got home, the military base I lived on was in lockdown.

Could always be worse. You could have lost 2 cousins and an uncle to Bushes war! Yay hatred! Yay violence!
