I found an interesting political values test. I'm not sure how accurate you will find it, but I hope it's worth your time even if it just tells you what you already know about yourself.

I figured that general discussion was probably the appropriate genre for this thread, since all the political topics tend to congregate here. I didn't see a thread that discusses this particular test.

Here were my results:

The way some of the questions were worded seemed like it was made by a bunch of commies

Ehhh. my pics never load.

I disagree with my results... or rather the social liberalism part.

The questions kinda sucked. My opinions tend to be more nuanced.

For example, I think a world government is an inevitability. I value social programs and some aspects of socialism, but still recognize the need for some "play" and for a free market that is at least restrained from certain aspects of life.

I side primarily with the liberty to do as one pleases in as much as it does not cause harm to others. I prefer liberty to the people. I also think that rather than the military, economics is the new way of doing war. Beyond that, surveillance and authoritarian measures are fairly senseless, and simply do not work. I also dislike the law ruling over every nitpicky little aspect of business, but would rather see less focus on individuals conducting business and more regulation (and even disbandment) on larger corporations.

As for science.. I hold no special place for traditions, but I find progress as also an inevitability. Once the genie is out of the lantern, there's really no way to put him back inside.

When you upload a pic you have to delete the '$' that comes before the number for it to post right

Some of those questions were pointlessly vague and poorly defined though. So I was forced to go "unsure." Reason versus Culture for example, that one is poorly defined because reason is poorly understood in that question.

What may seem unreasonable to me may seem perfectly reasonable to a person of another culture. So they wouldn't consider that a problem then. Without a working definition of reason or a clearer idea about what the questioner was asking it is a "blah" question.

Edit: Figured out the upload feature.

I agree with others who say that the questions were sort of badly written a lot of times. That said, I think I largely agree with the results.

I came out less in favour of markets than I expected, but I still ended up near the middle of most stuff.

A lot of where I feel it's inaccurate is in the question wording. Like when they say "my religion's values should be spread as far as possible." I think EVERY religion's values should be spread as far as possible - giving literally everyone on Earth equal access to every religion, or no religion at all, as they personally consider best for them and their lives. But that question sounds like they're asking if I want Jewish values forcibly pushed on the entire planet at the expense of every other value system, and fuck no I don't want that. So I might strongly agree (yes, spread my religion and all the rest too), or strongly disagree (don't shove any religion down anyone's throat, not even mine). Ultimately I decided to strongly disagree, which probably reduced my "tradition" score a bit.

Woo. Got an entirely meaningless answer based on poorly worded questions. Obviously my entire worldview is shaken, not stirred.

Well no surprises there , other then the Economic ones. I am not entirely sure what was up with them. Seems like they were fishing for Socialist answers. Not that I mind the current Capitalistic markets aren't exactly healthy for the international markets. There is far too much volatility and ripple effects in the current Capitalist way of doing things.

I say more along the lines of Libertarian socialism, not Marxism. There is more to socialism then the bullshit thought up by the vodka soaked Russians ya know.

Not really. I think freedom is the people operating their free markets and doing as they please while the government takes the necessary role of police/military authority for safety.
