So apparently Runescape decided to have a pride event without asking the community

From what little I know of OSRS, the community is always polled on stuff such as whether they want certain new content to be added, whether they want this this or that to be changes, etc. In order to get stuff added there needs to be a 75% vote in favor of it.

Though despite this the game decided they would have a pride event added without even polling the community. Apparently this caused a ton of backlash because people don't want real world issues to be present in the game, and even though players were fine with the charity events because even though they were borderline unacceptable, they didn't directly focus on heated issues such as saving endangered animals nor did they take a side in an issue.

Oh, and there was some rioting in game, which from what I heard was pretty hilarious because people were dressing themselves in desert robes (Basically look like a KKK outfit) and rioting. At this point anyone seen in World 30 Falador in a white outfit is being banned, and it's kind of hilarious because innocent people are also banned because nearby is a popular farming spot, and people are wearing their white outfit called Graceful for the run boost for their farming, which incidentally gets them two week/permanently banned.

Anyways, any thoughts?

I find this brand of drama kind of hilarious because Jagex is pretty notorious for making their player base angry and causing their players to quit. It's why they split Runescape into two parts to save the game: Oldschool and RS3, the latter of which is nothing like the former.

Though the event is honestly very unobtrusive, the space for the event is about 7 tiles, where 1 tile is the size of a player.

The gaming community doesn't take any shit when people try to mess with their games. It is known.

Step 1) Hamfistedly push sexual extremism on your customers
Step 2) Force them to stop doing business with you when they get pissed off
Step 3) Ban other customers and piss them off incidentally

My guess for step four: apologize while simultaneously posturing sanctimoniously. A possible step five is to double down on the extremism and denounce the people that stopped patronizing you because of it.

Hm. Dressing up as the KKK (which is also censored by in game chat) is kinda foolish. If you didn't want to go to the pride event, don't. The same goes for every event, in every country, in every world.

Take this from a player who was in the top 2k OSRS players before he quit (Max skills up to 120 dung, before I quit).

Ironically the word "gay" is censored in the game chat too.

Hey, lets add real world political issues into a video game that people usually play to escape real world issues, like after school stress:D

Have you not witnessed the failures that is Mighty #9 and Mess Effect Andromeda? Both of which had horrible political ideology backing behind the creators and failed horribly! No wonder you are a washed up drench of a game studio, you think that it is OK to punish players for protesting against your poor ideas. Also your version of Excaliber is shameful, it's a low teir peice of trash weapon untill you put the time, effort and sanity to falador tasks or whatever to make it a semi viable option that will always haunt you for the amount of dread you see trying to do all of that grinding, of which is an insult to my honor. (continued later, got important things to do.)

Liberals will destroy their own cause soon. They are pushing so hard that there is massive backlash against their advances especially in the gaming community. We just want to play games, kill shit, and have fun. When you shove politics into it then people get pissed because many of them don't care. They will then do whatever is most offensive to piss people off and then it devolves from there, quite fun actually.

Basically, game decides to have an event celebrating LGBT pride, they forgot to poll the players like they do for 99.999% of all other content updates to see if they want the update, they decide to add it without asking, it causes a crapstorm.

I, and most people, would disagree. Actually, you could possibly even prove it mathematically. As far as the "T" goes, well, yeah, it's pretty extreme to be proud that you suffer a medically recognized mental illness. I mean, I can understand not being ashamed that you struggle with depression... but being proud that you have an ailment? That's just .... wacky.

Pride ... the most evil of the seven deadly sins.

>Runescape developer team announce a Pride Event in game for the first time
>players upset that a poll was not done, inserting politics into the game, and disliking fags in general
>in game 'riots' start in Falador world 330 that feature players dressing like Klu Klux Klan members
>Jagex mods allegedly begin permanently banning people wearing the white robes
>biggest riot yet set for tomorrow June 8th when the Pride Event goes live
