Looks exciting tbh. I'm definitely consider getting this for PC.

There's so many little things that are turning me off from this game, not even counting the beyond-dead horse of the microtransaction loot boxes debate. I still hate how they're butchering the lore, I hate how generic Shelob is, I don't like the concept of having to defend or siege fortresses constantly, didn't care much for the first game...

Also Arkham-style combat is balls and I'm sick of western devs continually copying it instead of designing more interesting combat systems.

I was barely interested in it to begin with but then all of the microtransaction stuff started coming out and that made my interest drop completely to zero. I really can't even say that I'd be picking this up if I saw it in a Steam sale for $5 like you occasionally see the first game now.

The only thing I liked about the first one was making friends and influencing people. I may get this down the road, but I am in no hurry to build giant golden castles in the sand.

Well, would you look at that. Reviews are out and it seems that the true ending for the game is actually locked behind content that's pretty much created in such a way that heavily heavily incentivizes skipping massive RNG grind by using the microtransaction shop. Surprise surprise.

Now I'm definitely not going to get this game at release.

Will probably wait for price to drop or go on sale. I got the prequel game at $5

The first game wasn't too bad, not great either, but reasonably solid. However WB has taken Shadow of Microtransactions a few steps too far with their dirt-baggery. It's definitely on my, "Maybe buy during a sale, if they patch the crap out of the game," list.

I got Shadow of Wardor, and I just cannot recommend it, even if you're really great at that Batman style of combat systems, which the first also had. If you suck at it, you're going to have a really bad time.

The skill tree fights against you, constantly. You're constantly up to your ass in alligators, but all the 'crowd control' abilities are buried beneath other, less useful abilities, or are one of the mutually exclusive upgrades to one of the abilities. You almost need to completely unlock the entire skill tree to manage all the captains, as well as the enemy types, much less really move through the story to unlock your really useful abilities, like Domination and Dominate Captains, which only comes into play something like 7 hours into the game, if you can get through the story fights.

You can get 'Ambushed' by Captains, each of which gets their own long ass introduction, and if they run away, exit speech, but they often turn back up right after the flee, giving a new introduction. They get separate introductions in missions, so you might have to deal with two or three introduction speeches by the same Captain, each of which breaks the flow of your action, flips your camera around away from whatever you're doing to focus on whoever spoke last, and often gets you rewarded for their kindness by helping you miss the Dodge/Counter prompts, hitting you to death. You can be ambushed by sudden Beasts (Dire/Caragors, Graugs, Drakes) as well, just for giggles.

One review I read mentioned that Stealth is made less useful, and is even useless outside the specific story missions that require it (and have few enough enemies that it is possible). This is pretty much true. You'll pretty much never be able to stealth attack Captains inside the base areas. If you get spotted, even outside restricted areas, you'll often find yourself suddenly surrounded by 20-50 oruks. Sometimes Gondorians show up, but they're not really useful except as a distraction for you running the hell away.

I bought this game last week and have been enjoying it. It does feel a bit repetitive with some of the activities and combat but I like the variety of monsters.

Yeah, I wish there's an option to skip the introduction of the captains. Some of them have memorable ones while others are a waste of time to listen to. (EVERY time) I'm about 20 hours in the game so far and the world setting has a lot of potential. The enemy AI reacts weirdly to stealth sometimes. I had one particular mission where I failed around 5-6 times for stealth while there was another mission where I aced it in a single run.

The missions are a plus in this game so far. I like the storytelling that continues the plot from the previous game.

Right now, I'm trying to attain some achievements while also finishing the main campaign while maxing out my skills.

The RNG lootboxes has been a mixed bag for me. I got some good shit from my first lootboxes but the ones I've bought later (from in-game currency) have been pretty meh.

Contray to what people say, you don't really need to spend money to do the conquests/defenses for Act 4.

You can sell unused gear for Marian (to get chests) and power up your orcs that way. ALWAYS get intel for the higher level orcs especially the Warchiefs and Overlords. I actually lost defense 3 times from stages 8-10 including the final stage and had to beat a level 65 orc (he also had NO CHANCE perk which made it even harder)

But if you know his weakness, it gets easier.

I have mixed feelings on the latest Outlaw Tribe. They are decent but none of the orcs really stands out for me.
