So, here's the quick version: This discussion is here for everyone who needs something new to watch, myself included. Say what your favorite anime is, and say why we should watch it. If you don't like someone else's favorite anime, use common sense, and be polite about your disagreement.

Anyways, I'll start: My favorite anime would be SKET Dance. The main cast meshes very well, and the jokes all have a surprising amount of wit, while also being timed near-perfectly.

I'm not gonna watch Sket Dance until I finish Gintama, and that's gonna take awhile (probably gonna read the manga to instead of watching it).

As for my favorite anime, I would have to say that's a tie between Steins;Gate and Hunter x Hunter. Everyone should watch Steins;Gate because it is the best time travel story out there that I have ever seen, and it manages to get you really invested in all the characters, which makes it really emotional many times throughout the show when certain things happen to those characters. It was an experience I won't soon forget, and I don't think many others would either.

Hunter x Hunter is the best shonen to have ever been written, and even if you don't like shonen, I'd still recommend HxH. It is without many of the flaws that typical shonen series have, and it has extremely well-written characters and story and pretty much everything. It is very unpredictable, with subsequent arcs completely differing from each other in tone and style. It has one of the best power systems out there. There are many other good qualities the series has as well, but it would take all day to describe them all.

Of course, these aren't exactly unknown, so they're probably not really going to give anyone anything new to watch, but whatever. Go watch Natsume Yuujinchou. I'm not gonna talk about it because this post is already long enough, but yeah.

I should watch Sket Dance some day.

Also HxH is much better than I want to give it credit. I should finish it some day.

To help this thread not get lost, here's another. Tono to Issho. Specifically, the second season.

Being, I assume, adapted from a gag manga, this show has very short episodes. Season one, with all twelve episodes, is only twelve minutes long. It's clear that the writers are trying things out, and getting used to the characters.

Here's my recommendation: Jump straight into season two. They ramped up the episodes to 3 minutes each, the writing to awesome, and the jokes to 11. Watch the first few episodes of season one if you must, but season two of Tono to Issho is comedy gold.

Hmm I didn't know the name but I recognize the thumbnail. I'm not sure where I saw it. It might've been when I was looking up Date Masamune. Well I might watch it. Eeeeeventually.

Never read a contract before signing? Puella Magi Madoka Magica will make you start to think twice about that habit. Cute girls, cute monsters (witchs), and plot twists that may leave your head spinning. It is certainly an anime that will have your soul in an iron grip, leaving you entranced and wishing for more. Just make sure to read the fine print first.

Yes. Yes, I do.

Jojo's is great, though I have to admit I need to watch it in doses because of how graphic it is. More so for the animal deaths.

- Really fun, well-written, adorable Slice of Life comedy, character depth, and a bit of BL ship tease.
- Idol show with actually good music.

----> Marginal #4

Just wanted to step in and second Hunter x Hunter. I feel like there may be a decent slice of CR users who avoid it simply because of what it is. I did for a while. I keep shonen at arms length simply because typically its trite, cliche, absurd, and targeted at 13 year old kids who want to go super-sayan (not thats theres anything wrong with that).

Its an amazing show. Honestly. Great characters, excellent pacing, enough depth and width to the story line to keep things interesting and moving forward but not too much to make your head spin or too little to drive you to boredom. Its a wonderful show. Never saw it coming.

You should definitely watch My Hero Academia. It's more than just flashy superhero characters and flashy fights. It's about never giving up, pushing yourself to keep going to the top even when you have to work twice harder than those who have the skills and talents to do so. And you'll get your chance to shine.

..... so is every shonen anime ever, though. Every purely-shonen series, and about half of most other genres of anime. That also describes Love Live and Starmyu, and those are the only shows that do that plot well. (Because they're cute, and they sing. Singing > fighting.) Starmyu explores this theme, specifically, better than any other show, but Love Live still does it better than any show about fighters. The original Love Live, not that Sunshine thing.

Also Kaleido Star.

And some people are kind of sick of those themes, actually, too. There's more to life. Really, there is.
