extremely. i never know what i will like tho, so it's a total crapshoot every time.

character development is important to me, as is sincere emotional resonance. i like animation to be fluid, if the characters are unnaturally stiff in their movements, or the pacing too static, it brings everything down. animation as well as narrative ought to follow a natural rhythm that suits the genre, more serious story driven pieces should take the time to familiarize you with context both physically and situationally, whereas action pieces do not benefit from drawn out, static settings. writing matters, characters should have clear motives and well established reasons for responding to situations whether or not the audience is privy to those reasons at first. better for the answers to be revealed slowly. exposition is better done through demonstration than dialogue, especially when it leaves the viewer with clues enough to unravel the mysteries that are dropped in their lap.

i am a demanding critic with weird tastes, so yes, I am quite picky

I'm not at all picky with what I watch. I'm relatively easy to please. For seasonals I try to watching everything available, sans sequels that I haven't seen previous seasons of. I would usually complete 80-90% of those seasonals. For non-airing shows, I would essentially pick at random for what to watch. I have this approach since I like going in blind, and spontaneously exploring as much of the medium as possible.

Yeah. It has to have a good rating. And it's usually recognized.

I don't care that much about ratings or genre, although there is one genre in particular I stay away from which is yaoi.
I read the description and look at the promotional art and if it looks interesting I'll watch it.

I think caring too much about ratings means you will miss out on some hidden gems, there are a lot of anime that are really good but have poor ratings (mostly) because they simply haven't been seen by a lot of people.
I say ignore the ratings and read the description, and if it sounds interesting give it a go.
Sometimes that'll mean you waste a bit of time on a few episodes of an anime you won't like, but it's worth it when you find one of those hidden gems.

No, I'm the opposite of an anime elitist who only enjoys the finest of delicacies that anime has to offer.

I like to watch generic anime and just fun and entertaining anime.

I never got the point of purposely limiting what you watch. Sometimes the generic stuff is really good and never going past your boundaries literally limits your hobby.
I can't watch everything due to time issues but I always try to watch at least 1 or 2 shows I generally wouldn't even give a shot.

I only refuse to watch anime with a bad/dark/depressing ending. I don't want to watch something for a few hours only to have it end in a depressing way. If I wanted to watch a depressing story I'd turn on the news.

^^^ I like downer endings. Individual preferences are so vastly different, does it even make sense to have ratings?

What? Anime..........psssssssssssssssssst, never mind......

With the limited amount of free time I have, I have to be picky with my hobbies.

For anime, guy has to be hot and bad ass, with an interesting backstory.

No ecchi, no loli, no boob jokes or women with melons bigger than their heads.

I can deal with violence and adult content, but within reason (ie, samurai stuff).

Prefer anime with an overarching arc within than just "one story, one episode" stuff.

Very much so, I keep well away from watching any heavily fanserviced/loli/ecchi/borderline hentai/yaoi/yuri series

I am not really selective but if you're talking about genre wise then yeah I'm a little selective there. can't really get into mech shows. there only have been a few I've gotten into which were Code Geass, Destiny of the Shrine Maiden, Big O, and Strain (there are others but nothing comes to mind). (what about about Evangelion?) I caught a few episodes. yeah but yeah that's just me!

I used to be very picky with what I watched. I used to watch old anime like Cardcaptors, Pokemon, Digimon, and Yu-Gi-Oh when I was a kid because that was all we had available on TV. Coming back to anime in like...2013, I only settled for shoujo, and the guy had to be hot.
Then I guess I got more open-minded and started checking out other genres like shounen, action, horror, etc.

Sometimes I am. Other times I'll take a peek at other ones and decided from there if I like them or not. There are a few genres that I don't tend to get into. There'd be the odd anime that would be the exception to that.

I don't know how can I explain maybe I am picky but it cannot be just girls, the main character could be a girl but it have to be a guy in the story

but I really prefer the main character to be a guy. Let me put the list of my favorite anime that I have watch.

Fullmetal Alchemist
The Irregular at Magic High School
Bleach
Naruto S.
Kenichi: The Mightiest Disciple
Fruits Basket
No. 6
Eden of the East
Ghost Hunt
The Flower We Saw That Day
Free!
Rise of the Yokai Clan
Haikyuu
Hunter x Hunter

There you go but I got more that i watch are just like those.. that should be enough.. Lol
