Hmm hard to say... I will say that last episode of Angel beats damn near killed me. On the other hand Usagi Drop probably drew more tears from me than anything else I can remember but because the show was so beautiful, yet Rin-chans situation was very sad.

I usually try to stay away from super depressing and sad shows, but of those I have seen, Angel Beats takes the cake as the saddest.

Anohana: The Flower We Saw That Day absolutely tore my heart out. I was crying like a lost child at the mall with a closed play place. It's a truly amazing story with an ending that is nothing short of beautiful.

Haha! I'm a sucker for sad anime. It's like an addiction to me. So I can't pick only one.

The ones I can remember at the moment include "Your Lie in April", "Angel Beats", "Anohana: The Flower We Saw That Day" (most def watch these). Then there's also the movies "Wolf Children" and "Your Name".

Of course, many anime have sad parts but the episodes that stuck to me the most were from "Naruto: Shippuden".

"Hybrid Child" is a good one, too. Lastly, while it's not technically sad, it had me bawling even after many replays, "Doukyusei". (These are BL, just so you know.)

I'm surprised I still have tears to shed.

Now to go watch "Plastic Memories", "A Silent Voice", and "Wolf's Rain" anime I've read about in this thread.

Right?! That show had me crying! Even the live action adaptation did not fail to make me sob like a wet rag. So beautiful.

I couldn't make it through half an episode. I just saw what was coming and I started tearing up then I figured the whole series would be like that and said HELL NO!

Clannad and Clannad After Story are a freight train of sadness. Thankfully, there are moments of laughter sprinkled throughout, or I could not have survived it.

full metal alchemist is like that many episodes are so serious and have a heavy dark tone and sadness but thankfully after a few heavy episodes there is usually a really light fluffy and fun episode to balance it out and same with other animes like naruto and dragonball z
