It's basically a debate about new versus old. What do you prefer. One clearly looks more human than the other but inhuman characterization is what's hot these days.





What type of style do you prefer?

I gotta say I'm partial to the older style of design. Modern anime looks like endless army of French models and Micheal Jacksons. Can imagine how older designs would look with today's production values but that would be a treat. Also their lips are better defined, they just look altogether more human.

I think it really depends on the character designer I guess. The character designs they used for Gundam the Origin for example I think really outdo the original character designs, they are really great at expressing emotions.

Then again with Iron Blooded Orphans, they do look a little stiff I will admit.

I was never a fan of Amuro's design. I liked some of the other character designs in the original Gundam, like Bright and Sayla, but Amuro always looked a little off to me.

Basically, I think both have their merits. I like looking at newer animation better of course, but as far as character designs go, I prefer to look at individual characters rather than the whole show or a whole era.
