Politics are getting weird lately. I almost think our leaders are trying to troll one another at this point.

http://www.independent.co.uk/news/world/europe/james-comey-asylum-russia-vladimir-putin-fired-fbi-director-donald-trump-a7791396.html

So can we start the whole "comey was a Russian agent" conspiracy now?

Yeah, it's trolling. The Kids Nowadays have a hundred made-up definitions for the word, but there's only one true definition from the 90's, and it's exactly what Putin's doing.

Which isn't helping Trump any either, every time Putin wants to publicly har-har to the masses at home at what he thinks is the "failure" of our attempt to convict their deal.
If one of our trolls failed to be (ahemlorreen) banned after a long group whine about them, the FIRST bad-winner thing they'd do is pump out ten more threads in direct succession, beating their one joke even more dopily into the ground for vanity value, to nag us that they could, and giggling that there's apparently nothing we can do to stop them.
And Putin has his one joke, just like Trump has his Twitter account.

You got that right. It wouldn't make sense if he didn't offer asylum considering what the guy is facing currently for his crimes against his own country. He, and a lot of other people who previous leaks exposed as criminals working against the American people need to be tried and sentenced. There's a lot of treason been going around, and none of it has anything to do with Trump colluding with Russia (which should be obvious to ANYONE after all this crap)

...and they still don't drop the Russia narrative. Such a joke, our country becomes a bigger and bigger joke every single day.

It's going to get very interesting if Comey accepts asylum in Russia - it will speak volumes. The mere offer does, but I guess we wait and see. I for one would find it hysterical.

...and Putin doesn't even need to try to troll us. We do it for him and I don't blame him at all for finding it as ridiculous as he does. I kinda respect him for it, in fact. The same way I respect Trump for trolling his critics / the media.

Except that Internet trolls are so caught up in their own giggling delusions that they're "controlling" their victims with their chaos, they don't seem to be aware of what's actual definable success or failure for them--
If an entire group suddenly had enough and got organized to finally try and get a troll kicked off the group for a perm-ban, the troll would start egotistically giggling at his "success"--"Ha, ha, every single person in the group now wants to take away my account, drive me out of business, and keep me from ever posting again...That proves i'm getting to you! I'm WINNING, I'm WINNING!"

At which point, everyone else just sort of stares speechless at his unique definition of "winning" that seems to have escaped everyone else's logic.

This was a joke, as is made clear in the CNN article. Normally I'd say that that makes it not worth reporting, but it's an interesting comment on the havoc Russia has wreaked on our political atmosphere. Something good happened to Putin, as Oshino might say.

Wow, he offers this up as a joke and people bite on it hook line and sinker. The nutters come out of the woodwork talking about how Comey committed treason lol

True

Russian President Vladimir Putin mocked conspiracy theories linking President Donald Trump’s 2016 campaign and his own government, asking NBC News’ Megyn Kelly whether Americans had “all lost your senses over there.”

Part and parcel of Putin's toolkit when dealing with allegations and inquiries. Deny, decry, and mock; so long as he never admits direct responsibility he maintains doubt of the West within his ranks of supporters all he has to worry about is how to spin continued US sanctions.
